So, I joined here a couple of weeks ago (Month ago?). I lose track of time. 🤗
I’ve looked at how many members joined here (Around 632). Where did everyone go?
A lot of members haven’t posted or been on here for over 5 years ago! Some over 1 to 2 years!
Should a lot of these no shows be culled off? New members enticed over to make this a great Amiga Community hotspot? (not saying it isn’t).
Would be great if we had more active people on here 👍🏻

There was a months-long site outage a few years ago, during which a lot of people gave up on the site. It has never really gone back to how it was.
-
amiga.org used to be just this forum. When AmigaKit bought it, the site was down for months, snd when it came back, the forum was moved to different url and the site was become more of a portal for various amigakit stuff. The whole process shun off quite a few people.
-
Weirdly enough, the redesign that didn’t feature the forums on the first click killed my desire to come to this site. That makes no sense and obviously I do still show up once in a while but it raised the bar just enough to dampen the mood. ???

Peeps just don't log in anymore, currently 130 guests online.

Not sure I follow. Your comment is confusing. You saying you would rather that cluttered mess that was a front page? or are you talking about the index page of amiga.org.
Not my decision, but you can always make a bookmark.

The forum is the only thing that is of any interest here, the index page is barely relevant for anyone. If I was AmigaKit I would have made sure to keep amiga.org away from customer support for AmigaKit products (ie the opposite of what AmigaKit has done), makes it so much easier to pass on the day you want to sell.

To be fair, I have not noticed too much of Amigakit wares on here. But if you do own a forum then it would be silly not to advertise. I know I’m new, but I haven’t witnessed any want off’s to people who want to sell… Although I suspect you will have no protection as a private seller (Unless I am wrong here?).
As some or all may know. I was on EAB for over a year. It has a lot of talented people who provide some good stuff for us Amiga Addicts 🤣👍🏻 Unfortunately it appears that forum is now being controlled by a different Amiga reseller. Not trying to start a flaming war. Just making the point that forum is getting a bit toxic 😞🙄😳🤔 To a point if your name doesn’t fit right you just get perma banned it seems. 😤
It’s just a shame more people don’t come over here as well. Maybe the Admins of this site should try a Emailer to those who joined to point out the forum is still alive and kicking. Wouldn’t hurt if others on here in other forums don’t give a shout out to this forum as well.

That’s a shame. 😞 It appears a lot you old timers (Not saying you are old 👍🏻) seem to have stuck around. Which to me is great that you still want to participate 🙏🏻

Not the forum, the so called "index" - http://www.amiga.org - it's all "AEON-Kit" ... stuff.

It's been "toxic" here as well previously, that's another reason why traffic is low.
The problem in general is that "the Amiga community" isn't really _a_ community, it really is many partly overlapping communities or cliques, each with their own quasi-definitions of "what is amiga", "who is amiga" etc. Often these these cliques end up with some sort of "messiah" with a group of rabid followers and sycophants. These "messiahs" tend to go toe-to-toe with one another, and typically they're not open for any sort of critique or different views than their own (though their own view may flip from one day to the other).
The whole "legal situation" and sometimes mind boggling amateurish conduct and behaviour of many so called "professional" parties just fuels the whole thing.

Let just agree to dissagree, cause I can see you have some axe to grind. Its jointly owned by Amigakit and A-EON.
In regards to your comments about professionals. Everything gets jumped on, straight away with out any correct facts. Even when facts are provided, they are ignored, cause it kills the original beef (and attention).
In my own opinion, no one is diplomatic these days. I always sat on the fence, however everyone thinks they are right and thats where the problems happen.
Lets leave this now.

Insulting people after they've taken their time to write on here isn't helping the forum's cause, nor is demanding the shutting down of said conversation.
My memory of the forum down-time was that (well it seemed) it was around a year or more, so no surprises people left. I'm not sure why the Gallery went private, but I used to like to check it without logging in.
Then there was some drama about some poor chap being ripped off over the 'A1200 logo' or cases or something, I can't remember what exactly but I felt it was below the belt by AmigaKit and I stopped visiting here mostly. I might have totally got the wrong end of the stick, I do make mistakes! I remember feeling disappointed in AmigaKit though at the time.
'THOR' left the forum too (wasn't he trolled out?), and his posts were fascinating. After he'd left, there was little reason to come here for me.

Sorry to read what happened.
Feels as though I have opened a Big can of worms. 😳

Nah, times are different now, that's all.
After Slack came Discord, so all the kewl kids and grampas hanging out over there...

The really really long outage where amiga.kit couldn't be arsed to sort it out. killed the site. People started using other sites like EAB and never really came back.
The front page only showing a few posts killed it for me as well as it not going directly to the forum as it has since the last millennium.
And the focus changed when it became part of a commercial entity.
Basically , and it almost seemed intentional , the new owners didn't give a fuck about this site and its legacy and have done nothing to bolster it. It's like they wanted it to die.

I joined Amiga.org in 2002. I visit Amiga.org daily as a guest, and sometimes login to post. That long outage mentioned by others definately took its toll.
Cheers,

Just lurking. Visit every day.

There were cookies and/or https problems for several years which could stop you from being logged in to the site. To be fair that's solved since a few years.

Seen you over at EAB a few times…. Things have changed over there now 🙄

Test test test. Holy cr@p. This is the first time I've been able to log in in like... two years?
Still alive. Still busy working. Got a Rivian (EV truck) and spend a lot of time annoying people in those forums. Do miss my Amiga's, and the countless hours I used to spend on this forum. Just re-packaged some of my Amiga stuff recently. Sadly not to take it out to play with, but to preserve it longer. Maybe someday I'll have time again. My company got me one of those mini C64's for my birthday. That was in... April? It's still in its box. No time, but many fond memories. Hope anyone who sees this message is well, and happy holidays!

You get your Cyber Truck after? That thing looks nuts.

Similar for me - during the long outage I got out of the habit of checking Amiga.org multiple times a day. Should try to get back into it...

Just leave the tab open...

Yep, that’s what I do. This site auto refreshes at the home page of any new post/threads 👍🏻

Have seen you a lot over on EAB (Before being perma banned for no reason 🤔🙄). Come over and say hi or whatever. Let’s try and get this forum more active 👍🏻 Spread the word!

Still here, posting from time to time. :) Will try to visit a bit more often in the future.

Well, in my case I can say that I'm back after years of absence: I didn't remember the password, but my email provider stopped giving service and I stopped having access to the account I used to access here, so, when I wanted to recover the password, I couldn't, and I have recovered it TODAY, thanks to a fellow member, @tolkien, who was able to warn the admins.
So one more who, hopefully, will do more than just read.
Saluditos,
Ferrán.
