Delivery will be in Q1/2024. Development is drawing to a close on the main User Interface- just localisation and optimisation to follow. Work is progressing on SystemV46 and further updates will continue after product launch as this is a much larger project.
In the meantime, here is a picture of the A600GS retail box:

Good job! It's a shame AmiStore isn't ready and you'll be set against the Amiga Maxi in the marketplace this year!
-
Thank you. I am not sure what the "Amiga Maxi" is, but AmiStore will be ready this year as a free download for the A600GS after release.
There will also be periodic updates to AmiBench Release V46 through the Updater tool.
-
This is looking good! Do we know what the prices will be and launch date?
-
@Boing-ball
Price is estimated at around £100 + VAT + delivery. Sales will open in the next couple of months.

@amigakit
Thank you. I am not sure what the "Amiga Maxi" is
Know your enemy! The RGL release schedule reveals; "a full-size "Amiga console" in Q4, 2024 aka an "Amiga Maxi" if you will! ;)
-
Thank you. I am not sure what the "Amiga Maxi" is
It's a full size version of TheA500 mini, with a working keyboard.
-
“Amiga console”: there have been several reports that they are not able to reveal the underlying operating system of the Amiga according to the 2009 Settlement Agreement. So that maybe a reason it is referred to as a console and not a computer. It would be awful to refer the Amiga as a console in any instance. It was never a toy.
-
Didn’t the mini have a bit of drama with the WHDLoad lot before it was released? Seem to recall they had to agree a licensing fee as that was it’s primary function to getting the games to work.
-
@Boing-ball
We approached the author of WHDLoad to offer him a licence fee for the A600GS but unfortunately it seems that it has been exclusively licenced to Retro Games Ltd. This is probably an anti-competition measure. We have since found alternative ways of delivering games software.

Wasn’t implying that you were infringing on intellectual property rights. But good to know you have a different mechanism in place to execute the games etc with 👍🏻 Be very interested in seeing this in operation when launched 😉
My inquiry was more around the Maxi product. Which if this is again a retro games Ltd product. Then it answers the question on how they are going to use the Whdload mechanism. 👍🏻
-
“Amiga console”: there have been several reports that they are not able to reveal the underlying operating system of the Amiga according to the 2009 Settlement Agreement.
Eh? What reports? The underlying OS is Linux, they never kept that a secret, they also came around to set up git repos for their open source components as well as WHDLoad setup at https://github.com/retro-games-ltd - I take it for granted that the THEA500Mini just uses the ordinary requirements of WHDLoad, typically an old 1.x A500 kickstart and a 3.x A1200 kickstart. And the licensing is here: https://retrogames.biz/legal/
"CBM 8-Bit ROMs © 1977-1984 Cloanto® Corporation. Amiga ROMs © 1985–1993 Cloanto Corporation. All Rights Reserved. Furnished under license from Cloanto® Corporation. Cloanto is a trademark owned by Cloanto Corporation throughout the world and registered in the United States and internationally."
If there's anyone here not revealing the underlying operating system here, it is you guys - no mention of operating system, no mention of what emulator that is used.
So that maybe a reason it is referred to as a console and not a computer. It would be awful to refer the Amiga as a console in any instance. It was never a toy.
Ever heard of the concept "FUD"? You're sometimes full of it - Amiga was _also_ a toy - in fact, that's largely what it was, and today even more so. It's just crazy diehards like me that use Amiga for "real tasks", most people - apparently you included - mostly just care about games, games and more games. And a shiny desktop with icons from where games can be launched. You haven't even bothered to answer the simple questions - what do you do with all the PPaint filters etc that rely on ARexx? Which version of DOpus? What's the purpose of a 4GB version when the emulated system only can use well below 2GB - to run several emulated envs at once? Which version of OctaMED are you shipping it with? Will it do MIDI and if so, how does one connect to it?

The majority of Amiga.org users do not consider the Amiga a toy. It is true there are a lot who just care about the retro games. Many members here have stayed with the Amiga over the last two to three decades after the demise of Commodore. They passionately care about using Amiga as a real computer and seeing new Amiga software development.
We have provided a games menu included in the A600GS to cater for the retro games players.
For more serious users AmiBench has been provided as a full desktop system running in 24-bit with a new set of dual png icons. AmiBench has our latest AK-Datatypes pre-installed in addition to a new proprietry Picture Datatype and Datatypes Lib. it also has a set of System commands and gadgets backported from the Enhancer Software.
AmiBench can be launched in a few clicks on the A600GS. It features new Amiga software: Personal Paint v7.4, Directory Opus v4.14 and OctaMED v8. A-EON Technology bought OctaMED in 2015. The SoundStudio was built from the original SAS/C code last worked on in 1996. A number of new important functions have been added to bring it up to modern Amiga sound standards. Some good news is that we expecting to enable OctaMED Midi support by using a USB to Midi with the A600GS.
We hope the development efforts will be welcome to Amiga users who love using PPaint and OctaMED.

-
I am very curious about this device, nice to have a way into Amisphere.
-
What do you do with all the PPaint filters etc that rely on ARexx?
Maybe it’s a special release PPaint 7.4 that has all ARexx support removed?
Which version of DOpus?
Check! 4.14 is an very specific choice, neither original 4.12 nor 4.16+... any particular reason?
(And why not Magellan as desktop (like "the others") for advanced users?)
What's the purpose of a 4GB version when the emulated system only can use well below 2GB - to run several emulated envs at once?
The screenshots have shown just 128MB of Fast RAM, what’s with that?
Which version of OctaMED are you shipping it with? Will it do MIDI and if so, how does one connect to it?
Ah, latest SoundStudio, interresting. Good luck with MIDI (timing and emulation)
Still no answers to what actual (host) OS is, and which emulator is used.

Screenshot of version of A-EON's OctaMED v7.9 working well on the A600GS in 1080p. It has a few more functionality changes to be made before it is bumped to V8:

You have to feed us diehards with details ..
-
Another week of hard work developing OctaMED Soundstudio. The original source code is from 1996 last touched by Teijo Kinnunen.
Our lead developer has implemented a very important feature on behalf of A-EON to take this to version 8. Hope to have some screenshots very shortly.
-
Thanks for update, sounds very interesting :)
-
Some exciting news: the feature most requested for OctaMED is now working. After 28 years AHI support has been added!

It's not all about games.... there is a serious side to the A600GS (https://www.a600gs.com)

Smooth interface :) Seems like easy to add more also, show more :D
-
They've got my interest. I'd really like to know more about it and I hope there's a lot more info coming before the A600GS is released.
How easy will it be to install my existing classic Amiga software?
How compatible is it with classic Amiga demos?
-
Just use Amazon questions like people do with THEA500 Mini! ;)

From the looks of the screenshots, it’s bespoke. Although I would be interested if the A600GS will allow for a full on Amiga Workbench experience?

It does indeed: AmiBench (https://wiki.amiga.org/amibench) is built in, ready to go, fully configured - no hacks needed.
-
Do you have some Amiga or C64 9-pin joysticks ? Plug them into the A600GS (https://www.a600gs.com) for multiplayer fun!

-
So is this thing just going to be another black box? If so, boring! Given the nice looking packaging in the first post, I was kinda hoping it would have been much more than that, perhaps something in the spirit of the original A600.
-
It would be totally funny if it was called the A300GS XL!
-
A600GS is today featured on The Retro Hour (https://theretrohour.com/amiga-kit-how-to-run-a-full-time-amiga-business-in-2024-the-retro-hour-ep415/) show, hosted by Dan Wood and Ravi Abbott:

Hello all.
I have been looking for an Amiga system and I have spent a lot of time looking at reconditioned original Amigas, the MiniMig, the MISTerFPGA, and others ; but they all had drawbacks which ruled them out.
The A600GS recently came to my attention, and for my requirements it looks like it fits the bill. 8)
I was wondering about the applications available in Amibench, as I can’t seem to find much information on this.
I would be looking for:
Essential applications:
Web browser
E-mail client with POP3 / SMTP support
Player for MP4 videos
Player for MP3 audio
Word processor
Nice to have applications:
RSS reader
SSH client
VNC viewer / server
Does anyone know if these applications will be available in Amibench – either bundled with the OS or available as third party software?
-
I think the bigger question would be. Can you install classic native Amiga Programs on this system? Which would negate the need on relying on 3rd party products being released.
-
Yes, you can install them in Amibench if you so require.
-
Save your position in games and resume them instantly by simply selecting the saved game icon and clicking Start. Don't worry: the amount of saved games is not limited. This useful feature has been added to the A600GS (https://www.a600gs.com) this week. Check out: https://wiki.amiga.org/a600gs

There are several years of development behind our System V46 components. These have been put to good use for the A600GS (http://www.a600gs.com) project. Some of the many components used within the pre-installed AmiBench (https://wiki.amiga.org/amibench):

Looks like you have a problem with ascenders and descenders in your font being erased by the previous/next line.
Best regards,

@nbache
The new SysZen font needs tweaking before release.
-
Will these machines be on sale at Kickstart 02?

Will these machines be on sale at Kickstart 02?
That’s a good question. Would be a missed opportunity if it wasn’t. A limited edition Kickstart 02 version 😉
-
The A600GS will be on sale at Kickstart 02 show.
We have some big news coming this week about some software development of it.

Cardiff, 9th March, 2024
AmigaKit Ltd is pleased to announce an important software development for the forthcoming A600GS (http://www.a600gs.com) computer system. The new ARM Graphics Library is pre-installed accelerating the performance of AmiBench (https://wiki.amiga.org/amibench) and 68K applications.
The ARMgraphics.library was created by AmigaKit's in-house developer to bypass the bottleneck of the 68K graphics functions. It accelerates graphics rendering performance in applications.
AmiBench is pre-installed on the A600GS computer system. It opens the desktop environment in high resolution 1080p with True Colour icons. Now it can use the new ARM Graphics Library for various purposes including faster rendering of windows, icons and backgrounds.
Third party developers can take advantage of this library by using it's powerful functions from their 68K application. It also offers an opportunity for 68K games developers to enhance their games with faster graphics rendering.
The library provides a link between 68K programs and the native ARM processor.
Further work is underway to patch 68K system graphics functions so older applications that are not written to use the ARM Graphics Library can benefit.
AmigaKit has developed AK-Datatypes, Picture Datatype and Datatypes Library over the many years for the Enhancer Software on X5000, X1000 and A1222+. These have been compiled for 68K to run on the A600GS, In addition these system components can also be accelerated by the ARM Graphics Library for extra performance.
The A600GS computer system is due for launch in the second quarter of 2024.
Additional Information about A600GS, AmiBench and it's components can be found on these websites:

I suppose A600GS currently runs Amiberry 5.6.x as underlying core. Will there be an upgrade path to Amiberry 6.x which is currently in development (available as preview)?
Which leads to the next question whether the A600GS hardware is capable of running Amiberry 6.x at full speed? Upstream says the 6.x branch needs reasonably more CPU resources compared to 5.x branch.
This is rather important as staying with Amiberry 5.x also means staying with an older WinUAE core.

Will this also support Warp3D gaming? Such as Payback.
How are the screenmodes done? P96 or is it some sort of New Monitor drivers that emulate the Alice?

I think speedwise it is currently only playable under Win-UAE or a CM4 powered PiStorm32 (and the latter is still a bit slow and in need of optimisation). However, it would be fun to try on the A600GS if this Arm library graphics boost really is a major step forward.
-
some sort of New Monitor drivers that emulate the Alice?
You mean Lisa.
-
@Boing-ball
A Warp3D driver for the A600GS is a large development project - months of work. The current ARM Graphics Lib is a large undertaking so that has some additional development first before moving onto newer projects.
A-EON Technology owns Warp3D and we have the source code to port over in future if need be.

That’s good to know. I think it would great if Warp3D was developed on further. Plenty of older RTG type games out there 👍🏻

Development work on the public release of AmiBench (https://wiki.amiga.org/index.php?title=AmiBench) V46.1 is coming to a conclusion in time for the soon to be released A600GS (https://wiki.amiga.org/index.php?title=A600GS) computer. The latest program to be backported from the Enhancer Software to the A600GS is the Calendar app. The Calendar is fully skinnable with 20 themes provided.
For the programmers out there, It uses the Shared Image Class, now accelerated by the ARM Graphics Library

We hope this will be the ultimate 68K distribution.
If it is made for the 600GS exclusivly, and enhanced for that, it is not really a 68k Distribution, now is it?
-
@TribbleSmasher
SystemV46 / AmiBench is 68K back ported from the Enhancer Software OS4 codebase. It represents 6 years of development work and works well on 68K machines. In recent times, we have since adapted it for the A600GS and added the ARM Graphics Library.

Can I install the MUI (Magic User Interface) under AmiBench?
http://www.sasg.com/mui
We would like to run MUI based applications on the AmiBench.
Is it possible?
-
Zune is already installed but it can be replaced by MUI if you wish.
-
Shame this thing doesn't have a modern browser. I would use it as a daily driver.
-
Are there any modern browsers for the Amiga? I use Ibrowse with Amissl. Maybe something Amigakit could look into?
-
Shame this thing doesn't have a modern browser. I would use it as a daily driver.
Would be fun to use the A600GS to surf Amiga websites such as, but not limited to, AMIGA.org !
Not to mention all those Amiga groups on Facebook, and the Amiga subreddit...
Please make it happen, AmigaKit !

This week we are pleased to confirm that Hard Drive File (HDF) support has been added to the A600GS (https://www.a600gs.com). The live software update will be published early next week to existing A600GS users.
Here is a video showing how easy it is to add a HDF file from a USB flash drive and then launch it. In this case the game is Frontier. I hope you enjoy how smooth this 3D game runs.

Inflation in the U.K I’m afraid 🤷🏻♂️
A second price increase in mere weeks. The price went from GBP 129.99 to GBP 132.99, and now to GBP 134.99 !
Is the central bank in your country not doing its job to keep inflation under control ?!

The following software updates for the A600GS (https://wiki.amiga.org/a600gs) have been uploaded today through the in-built live update system. They are available to download for all registered AmiSphere users:
46.1.739:
A600GS:
The yellow button was still mapped to RETURN during startup, so no longer started AmiBench as this had been changed to F12
In the joystick handler keep track of the last key press emitted and clear when released.
When the joystick handler switches to JOYSTICK_MODE_GAME_RUNNING and the above is set emit a release code for that key, to prevent the host OS initiating key repeat....
This fixes the instantly closing PAUSE MENU in some games.
Saving amisphere credentials would only work if credentials had previously been saved as the save credentials flag itself was not saved ...
The save flag is now saved separately to the credentials avoiding the catch 22
When save is not set any previously saved credentials are purged from disk when AmiSphereUser is destructed. (ie. at program exit and on user logout).
AmiBerry:
Minor changes to improve interaction with A600GS GUI
-
A interesting review of the A600GS: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lOU3gSKnAfY
When watching the video review, the reason that PPaint stalled was the icon was double clicked twice on the dock in AmiBench so two copies were launched together. We will fix the AmiBench dock to prevent that in future.
-
Wow, one can open and close programs?!
That was rather rudimentary, and frankly the system appears a bit sluggish.

Great review 👍🏻 A lot of neigh sayers in the comments. But as I see it, a lot of software updates being produced to fix the bugs. Any news on accessories such as a branded Keyboard and mouse?

The following software updates for the A600GS (https://wiki.amiga.org/a600gs) have been uploaded today through the in-built live update system. They are available to download for all registered AmiSphere users:
46.1.745 (09.07.2024):
* Address race condition when setting up the detection and driver initialisation of the DB9 Joystick ports.
* Add C:Date to SystemV46
-
Good to see things moving along! I am looking forward to getting home from Spain and hope mine shipped. It will be nice to have it waiting for me at home if so.
-
Might as well put this out there.
If you have a valid kickstart 1.3 and 3.1 imported. Then adding games, you can select A500 and A1200. It will use the correct kickstart.
If kickstarts are not present, it will fallback to AROS rom.
So if you select A500, it will boot like a normal A500 with Kickstart 1.3.
I'm saying this, as in a video I saw yesterday, user was saying Rainbow Islands doesnt work. It does, we were using it to test configs.
-
I'm glad Rainbow Islands works! A true classic! I find it hard to trust gamers who have never heard of 'The Rainbow Trilogy'! It may help that Parasol Stars is getting a release on modern consoles this month! 🥳

Jumped into an old part of the thread, duh!

Pressing these will enable the user to have their username emailed to their
account email and perform a password reset if they for get their password.
Pause Menu and sub windows now "grab" the mouse pointer preventing accidentally transferring focus back to amiberry when its paused.
-
The following software updates for the A600GS (https://wiki.amiga.org/a600gs) have been uploaded today through the in-built live update system. They are available to download for all registered AmiSphere users:

Add Restart Menu option to shutdown to allow a rapid soft restart of the main A600GS Menu.
Changing model in a class with no memory options (eg AmiBench) would cause a segfault. FIXED.
Internal fixes and improvements to the build system.
-
Our Time Prefs program has been added to AmiBench (https://wiki.amiga.org/amibench) on the A600GS (https://www.amigakit.com/a600gs-p-91329.html). This will be released as part of a free downloadable update in the coming days. You may notice that it uses a few extended Classes and Gadgets that are part of SystemV46.

AmiBerry:
Merge with latest AmiBerry release, retaining the threaded SDL rendering for performance.
A couple of small fixes for valgrind.
The Status bar was overwriting the end of the SDL surface by 1 line, causing crashes when the Surfaces were freed. FIXED.
Add a custom RTG screen mode to support "Future Attractions"
A600GS:
Add improved error handling and reporting to the update process.
Fix up left over GUI locks after update failures (and occasionally success!)
The GPIOCtrl object could be disposed off uninitialised if the application exited very soon after startup, typically when passed an incorrect command-line arg, that only happens in testing. FIXED
Improve handling of incorrect arguments, catching the correct exception in the on_cmd() signal handler.
Build script tweaks
Wrong flag was tested for reinstalling programs
When the start button on gamepad was pressed as the "any key to start" the joystick handler would switch modes, leaving a trailing key down event that would trigger autorepeat. FIXED.
Update archive unpacking errors now throw exceptions, for error reporting through the previously fixed mechanism
SystemV46:
Add SYS:Prefs/Time and SYS:System/TimeGuard to allow time setting independent of the host machine.
Setup InstallerNG
Some config changes to support "Future Attractions"
Programs:
Add Games directory to support "Future Attractions"

A new update to Amibench (https://wiki.amiga.org/amibench) is imminent for the A600GS. It contains our new Type (https://wiki.amiga.org/index.php?title=Type) command and updates to Dir and List (https://wiki.amiga.org/index.php?title=List) commands. Further commands are being developed.
The new Type command has all standard options including MULTI handle multi-assigns if a patch like TrueMultiAssigns isn’t running. The WIDTH option if given 0 as a parameter will use the entire width of the console window for hex output. Our developer has also added the HEADER option to improve the output when printing the contents of multiple files.

Our in house developer has spent the last 10 days working on porting YAM email client to the A600GS (https://wiki.amiga.org/a600gs).
There were some lockup bugs in Zune and YAM itself with timers that took some days to diagnose and fix. These are now resolved and YAM is working well.
The latest 2.10 version for the A600GS supports AmiSSL 5.17 - which is preinstalled in AmiBench.

This week our developer is working on AmiBench (https://wiki.amiga.org/amibench) enhancements. The antialiased text will be rendered through the Arm Graphics Library (https://www.amigakit.com/pdf/News_Release_A600GS_ARMgraphics.pdf) instead of slower 68k code. We hope to progressively convert more 68k functions across to native ARM code to boost AmiBench graphics performance.

I am currently writing my presentation on the A600GS for the Amiwest show (https://www.amiwest.net) next week. I thought it would be much better to display the presentation slides on the A600GS itself rather than a laptop. Our developer has created a small CLI command called ShowSlide. This small program displays the presentation slides as full screen taken as a list from the command line. For example:
c:ShowSlide SLIDES slide1.png slide2.png slide3.png slide4.png
Left mouse button advances to the next slide. The slides are accelerated by the Shared Image Class and ARM Graphics Library (https://www.amigakit.com/pdf/News_Release_A600GS_ARMgraphics.pdf)
We will include this in the next public release. Some A600GS users may find it useful if they want to use their A600GS as a portable presentation tool. It will certainly be a talking point in meetings :)

Hi,
Does the CD32 Emulation support CD Audio track playback for games that use CD audio in game?. I have some Amiga CD32 CD-ROMs I have used with Audio playback on my Vampire based systems using the IDE bus and audio out from the CD-ROM headphone jack. I was wondering if the A600GS plays back the CD-AUDIO as that feature was really nice.
Thanks!

It does, however functionality for that has not been added yet.

The following software updates for the A600GS (https://wiki.amiga.org/a600gs) have been uploaded today through the in-built live update system. They are available to download for all registered AmiSphere (https://wiki.amiga.org/amisphere) users:
46.1.864 (25/10/2024):
SystemV46:
* ARM Graphics Library: Add Text backend function to support generate to the antialiased text alpha template. Give 10% additional speedup on text rendering. BugFix: RGB src image with no mask was not handled correctly, resulting in no rendering at all in some cases or incorrect alpha in others.
* ShowSlide v46.1 added to C directory.
* AmiBench: Migrate to using an intermediate AmiBench-Startup script before the traditional User-Startup and filter the latter from update archives. Now the user can edit and customise this without having customistions overwritten
* AmiSSL v5.18 updated
* Icon Library v51.4.589 updated
* Version command v46.21 updated
* CLI v46.10 updated
* Add def_DF0.info et al and snapshot the lower half of screen under current disks.
* AB-Dock: Use custom rendering to draw IntuiText based lables, cacheing the font etc to try and reduce text flicker.
* SetGadgetAttrs( node, GA_Selected,....) caused TWO refreshes under AROS (and none under OS3.x) Replace with SetAttrs() followed by RefreshGList()
A600GS:
* Add support for Floppy disk drives through Drawbridge.
* Add note about pressing fire button to enable DB9 joysticks

Should this work with a Greaseweazle v4.1 ? Cause it doesn't with mine :-[
Also : is this only available as separate A500 Config ? No AmiBench integration ?
-
Oh, and the A1200 Config seems to be broken now, every Game and/or HDF I try to start is using Kick 1.3 instead of Kick 3.1 now :'(

Greaseweasle not at moment. I personally see it as an internal solution.
Drawbridge works fine in Amibench,

Drawbridge works fine in Amibench,
But WHY ? Greaseweazle is accessible the same way, it works fine on my MacM1, my Windows Box, my Linux Laptop and my Pi400 ... I don´t see why it can't be activated in the same way as Drawbridge :o
I´m surely not afraid of spending money for my hobby but I will for sure not pay for a Drawbridge, while already owning a Greaseweazle !
-
Should this work with a Greaseweazle v4.1 ? Cause it doesn't with mine
Initially only drawbridge support was added as it simplifies setup ( a number of options need to be tweaked in parallel internally) and I wanted to get the options out for "testing" in the wild. If there is demand for greaseweazle I can add it.
The standalone config it not fixed to A500 you can choose which model you want from the edit panel.
Initial support is disabled in AmiBench as there were issues there when testing in the team, but these may now be resolved, so hopefully it can be enabled soon.
Oh, and the A1200 Config seems to be broken now, every Game and/or HDF I try to start is using Kick 1.3 instead of Kick 3.1 now :'(
That's odd as AmiBerry wasn't udated fpr a few updates and this is controlled internally by AmiBerry.
-
If there is demand for greaseweazle I can add it.
In that case, +1 for Greaseweazle support here :) This would be great functionality to have but, as above, I don't want to buy another device when I already have a Greaseweazle.

It works well. I just have to run some more tests with using Greaseweazle. Then I'm sure it can be added.

Connect a real Amiga 1200 or Amiga 600 keyboard to your A600GS with the new AmiKey keyboard interface (https://www.amigakit.com/amikey-a600-a1200-keyboard-interface-p-91334.html):

I updated the A600GS a few days ago and added several ADFs.
This evening I tried looking at the software that came with the machine, DOpus and AmiBench. Neither are booting.
t appears there is a flash of text as it boots but I'm left with a Workbench blank screen.
-
Try to select AmiBench and press the Edit button and check if the setup looks ok.
I had a nearly similar experience today with AmiBench after adding/editing a Workbench 3.9 setup.
Suddenly Amibench did not boot up, and a requestor telling it failed to find the system 46 partition.
Turned out all selections in the Amibench setup was unticked for some reason. The harddrive settings was still there, so I just reselected everything and saved it. Then it booted normally again.

46.1.878 (11/11/2024):
AmiBerry: Extend uaelib to provide info about available midi devices and allow setting currently active midi input and output devices.
Merge with latest amiberry-lite github 5.7.5
A600GS:
BrlTTY was installed by default on earlier image versions, this caused a conflict with Drawbridge USB as it "stole" the USB serial device from the DrawBridge drivers! This update will do a one time purge of brltty where installed. This had the strange effect of the first floppy drawbridge connected not working but the next one attached would work as if it were the only one attached.
Later images are not affected.
Add support in the GUI for Competition Pro joysticks. Also add support for 8BitDo Zero 2 Bluetooth controllers. Widen the pattern used for testing input devices for joystickness so that more (hopefully all) gamepads should now be recognised as such.
If the bluetooth system was disabled then dbus messages sent to it to scan for attached or paired devices etc would trigger an Abort() in the libdus library rather than return the usual error message, unfortunately then causing the main GUI to Abort() to black screen. Add additional tests at all levels to prevent DBUS message being sent to BlueZ when not extant. This solves the main and up till now mysterious causes of the black screen after boot issue!
OctaMED:
Add a menu item to allow selecting the desired input and output A600GS MIDI devices

Cool, love the controller preferences window! When's the AmiStore coming online for the A600GS?
-
The update also fixed some issues here.
I noticed a few days ago that suddenly all selections was unticked for every installed system. For most of these I got them working again by reselecting it in the edit section. Also the protection was turned off so it apeared I also could have deleted the whole AmiBench system if I wanted to.
But Virtual Grand Prix was unable to start even if I reselected the disks. I was very close open up the A600GS to rewrite the SD card.
But this last update did repair these issues for me :)

46.1.891 (20/11/2024):
Latest A600GS system update has been released today. Adds one click download and install game feature. To test this new feature, Deluxe Galaga (Aminet version) has been added to the download and install list. Simply click the Install button and it will be ready configured to play on your A600GS. We plan to shortly add more classic public domain games to this list. Deluxe Galaga was created by the late Edgar M. Vigdal who was a remarkable games developer. Enjoy this very addictive classic game.
A600GS:
46.1.891:
A600GS: Extend new downloads sub panel to allow auto installing of A600GS targeted products. Split display into "A600GS" and "Other Platforms" sectons
Update AmiSphere->Downloads tab adding scroller box so that content scrolls internally to screen page and does force screen to scroll. Populate grid rows from the two list with separating titles and move column titles to per section rather than at the head of the grid.
SystemV46:
* IconX 46.7: Workaround for AROS SystemTags() issue that prevented IconX from working in AROS systems.
* Makedir 46.14:
- Added ICONNAME option to be able to select a specific icon for the created directory. If no path is supplied the current dir is searched first and then ENVARC:sys
- Modified the CLI argument template to be more compatible with OS3 and OS4.
* remove serial debug from PatchGFX

hello , how do I get old updates on my a600gs? ???
What do you mean by old updates? Updates are incremental, so all previous updates are effectively included when you update.
If mean that you want to downgrade to an earlier version, then that's not possible, but what issue would you be trying to solve by doing that?
-
:) no, I thought that if we had more amibench because of a crash of an update, surprisingly I had made the last version 46.1.892 and no more amibench, fortunately I had made backup well before the updates, now it is back to normal
-
@amigakit
So is the plan to enable people to download Amiga programs/games in their pants on Christmas morning or do we have to wait until 2025 for the AmiStore?
-
@BozzerBigD
With the new one-click download and install function, we can add new games for users to play. As you can see from the video it is very easy and fast to download a game now with just a click.
Of course all of this new functionality uses the AmiStore infrastructure already. Next option will be the add to cart and pay for commercial titles feature.
This complex project is coming together nicely.
-
I don't want to sound unthankful for everything you're doing (because I am thankful), but you seem to be concentrating too much on huge things for the system while simple quality-of-life features like being able to select more than one HDD image when setting up a game/app or being able to use multiple floppy disk drives in setup/amibench go unresolved.
When are we going to get some of these simple things that have constantly been requested since release?

What deals do you have in place to sell other peoples' software on the AmiStore? Will we be able to buy PixelGlass/BitBeamCannon products like Worthy and the upcoming Metro Siege through the store? What about Cecconoid or ReShoot Proxima III? I like Fred Fish Collection PD games as much as the next man but let's just cut to the chase and ask whether the wider Amiga publishers are on board?

* Edit Game: add Faster Chipset option that switches on some chipset optimisations at the expense of
compatibility
Thanks! Now 'Reshoot Proxima 3 runs at least with decent speed. JIT + Faster Chipset needs to be enabled. 1st Lvl runs 100 %ok, 2nd Lvl stills runs at lower framerate (probably ~20fps) than a M68K A1200/4000/CD32.
Looks like the A600GS may lack some CPU power for modern chipset demanding AGA games? Perhaps building Amiberry with more aggressive CFLAGS on the arm side could improve this a bit?
* Refactor internal floppy drive settings setup to allow configuring multiple drives.
I hoped this change would have allowed to use DF1 per default. At least the changelog reads this way. But it seems that's not the case... still only DF0 enabled.

* The buttons to select DF0 et al will be disabled if that drive is not enabled for ADF (ie set to Drawbridge or switched off)
* AmiBench now defaults to have DF0 and DF1 enabled
* Drawbridge has DF0 as Drawbridge and DF1 as ADF other have only DF0 by default.
AmiBench
* Picture datatype updated to v46.20: now support ArmGFX lib for display of alpha masked images. Fixes for RTG games.
* Optimisations to AmiBench Prefs to removed non relavents sections on this platform
Programs
Fix HippoPlayer, there were multiple Hippo Player group objects installed with the older version being reference in the Hippo Players prefs. The out of date files should be removed now and the new ones configured correctly.

Where can one enable DF1 to DF3 for other setups?
DF1 - 3 are grayed out here, only DF0 selectable.

Thanks for adding this game! I had not played it before, so it was fun giving it a go for the first time on the A600GS. 8) I must say that the option on the system to easily download games and get them automatically installed is brilliant. Cheers! :)

For everyone who found an A600GS underneath their Christmas tree, we hope you are enjoying it! We will have a special system update for all A600GS users imminently arriving in coming days. Here is a quick preview of the new Custom Hard Drive feature. You can soon make your own custom system image with ROM and partitions. We have many requests for this one so it will no doubt be popular. Happy Christmas!

I can't wait for this. It's been great seeing these updates come out and the A600GS get better and better.
Merry Christmas.

This looks great!
I still struggle to find a compatible drive for my drawbridgem so I envy you that has managed to find one. "returning" those I buy from norway usually costs more than the drives so I now have quite a lot of those usb floppy drives. hehe. I do hope you will add the greaseweazle-support as well down the line because it is a lot easier to find hardware (it use standard drives. not those hard to find drives from rack servers).
The fix for hippoplayer was one I was waiting for. playing mods is an important part of my Amiga usage. :)

46.1.946 (31/12/2024):
A600GS:
Implement the new "Add" panel. Now when the ADD button is pressed to import a game or application, a new informative panel is shown with overall explanation and step by step instructions (as needed) for importing each type of game, system or application.
In addition to the existing ADF, WHDBoot, CD32 / ISO, and stand alone HDF types, a new Drawbridge option is added.
The "Custom Full System" this last will enable advanced users to import custom systems based on multiple hard disks and custom ROMs. Currently multiple HDFs are supported, multiple drawer based hard disk options will be added in the near future.
Add custom ROM option to edit section.
SystemV46:
* Copy v46.18 updated
-
@amigakit How very nice! Eager to play around with "Add Custom System" the next few days. ::)
Only Feature I am missing now would be .ipf support. And multiple floppy support does not seem fully implemented yet. Since Update 46.1.931 using 2 Disks simultaneously on Amibench works, but for ADF games from the Main Menu still only 1 floppy is usable: All 4 floppys are shown but DF1-DF3 are greyed out and non-selectable. There is no configure option in ADF menu to enable more than one floppy.
-
Thanks for this update. I have now managed to create a system using 3 hdf files, System, Work and Games using OS322. The only thing that I couldn't see was the ability to use custom memory when using the Custom System options.
Thanks
-
When installing to hard disk from floppy you are normally instructed to remove the floppy disks to complete the installation. I cannot see any option to eject the floppy, only replace, can this option be added at some time ?
Is it possible to export a hdf to usb after you have made changes like installing additional software etc ?
Thanks

Thanks for this most wanted update.
I can now map the USB drive and Global disks, and even there are no custom memory settings I got 2 MB chip/1GB Fastram.
But how is the RTG supposed to work, what RTG card is activated by Amiberry?
uaegfx does not seem to work here.
As mentioned in another post, the A600GS version of the Amiberry executable did not work with uaegfx under Orange Pi Debian Bookworm either, while building Amiberry-Lite from source did made an executable that had uaegfx working.

AmiBench picks up the RTG automatically but more standard picasso installs will need the monitor driver in DEVS:Monitors editing.
What I did for my AmigaOS3.5 installation was:
copy the original uaegfx to storage
rename the copy in DEVS:Monitors to 'a600gs'
open icon information for the DEVS:Monitors/a600gs filr and chnage the BOARDTYPE tooltype to
BOARDTYPE=a600gs

Nice. Got RTG working by the simple instructuctions.
But why does the custom setups increase boot times so much?
My close to plain WB31 setup previously was up and running in about 10 seconds, but now it takes an additional minute. Most of this time while displaying a black screen.
Warm reboot takes about a minute as well, normal setup was almost instantly.
It cant be allocatiing the memory or initiating the RTG card that slows it down, since Amibench does not suffer from the delay.
EDIT: Just after posting I made another custom setup with my Workbench 3.9 setup, and this setup does not suffer from the same delay as the WB31.
Second Edit: I found the problem with WB31 is the setpatch (v.40.16) command in startup-sequence that takes very long time to finish. As mentioned above, the same setup (same hdf file) in a non-custom setup dows not have this slowdown.
OS3.2 also suffers from a setpatch delay with custom setup, but not as long as 3.1.

I have to admit I don't know what going on here. I'm not sure if I'm experiencing this with my 3.5 install, it's a straight copy of my old a1200 and an utter mess, so I've dismissed any delays as down to that,
What options (if any) is setpatch being called with?

I just disabled SetPatch in my 3.5 startup sequence boot and yes it boots very fast without it. But, of course, it doesn't update the ROM in memory so it not really running 3.5.
Its a long time since I booted this on real hardware so not sure what the time to boot should be in a "real hardware" case.
[edit]
Restoring set patch but removing the quiet option I see that the bulk of the delay occurs after the reboot. Not sure what it is doing at this point.

WB3.1 setpatch command have the QUIET argument.
As for yor 3.5 setup I guess it's comparable with my 3.9 setup which does not suffer from the delay. OS3.9 also patches the rom and reboots, but it does not take to long.

The following software updates for the A600GS (https://wiki.amiga.org/a600gs) have been uploaded today through the in-built live update system. They are available to download for all registered AmiSphere (https://wiki.amiga.org/amisphere) users:
46.1.969 (17/01/2025):
A600GS:
Extend the Custom Full System edit panel with ROM - Extended ROM - CPU type - CPU speed choosers and reinstate the Chip and Fast mem choosers JIT and similar options.
All choosers have an automatic setting that selects the correct ROM (if installed) and CPU speed and type for the given machine. Unless custom ROMs are required a typical setup would likely only increase the CPU speed.
Disable RTG and Zorro3 Mem options for CPUs with 24bit addressing (eg 68EC020 or less) make a visible note i the GUI explaining this.
Relayout the GUI of the edit section to be more consistent.
Hide the majority of customisation options in the pre-installed systems and applications.
Add notification system to allow Amiberry to inform the user when a ROM CPU incompatibility is found. Eg 3.1 ROM with 68000 based OCS/ECS machine. Only works for standard ROMs in Amiberry's database.
Add new customise floppy drives section with to allow config DF0 through DF3 with floppydrawbridge and Greaseweazle options included.
Add new option to start from a specified title, or the last title played or just the normal GUI as usual.
Refactor and improve USB disk refreshing
Add explicit option to add CDRom drive to custom systems.
Improved auto generation of devices names for HDFs and drawer based filesystems. (Add drawer based filesystems at same time).
Improve mouse-wheel scrolling behaviour in the GUI, scrolling through the settings will no longer accidentally change them.

What I did for my AmigaOS3.5 installation was:
copy the original uaegfx to storage
rename the copy in DEVS:Monitors to 'a600gs'
open icon information for the DEVS:Monitors/a600gs filr and chnage the BOARDTYPE tooltype to
BOARDTYPE=a600gs
Unfortunately this didn't work out for me on my OS 3.2.2.1 installation.
I installed Picasso96 v3.5.0, which copies the uaegfx driver in DEVS:Monitors already. Afterwards I set the boardtype to a600gs and renamed the uaegfx driver to a600gs. But the Screenmode preferences still does not pick it up, so I stuck to PAL/NTSC for the time being...
Anything I might have missed?
The Picasso96-installed uaegfx driver with default settings works fine on my Amiberry v7.0.1 installation on my Linux box.
-
I just did the update today and afterwards it states
"Firmware update available
Installed 46.1.972 Available 46.1.974"
Clicking on install update after this does nothing....
EDIT: Also is multiple disk drives still not available from A600GS Setup? I'm trying to setup a game with two disks and can see no way to put each disk into a different drive (ie DF0 and DF1)

Update not updating should be fixed now.
In regards to multiple disk, you select all disks you want then select "add selected disks".

It works for my OS 3.2 setup.
In case you missed it, the update that enabled RTG will not enable RTG automatictly for setups that you created before the update. You must recreate your OS3.2 setup using the custom full setup option and tick the RTG option.

Thanks for the update, it's not showing a higher version number now 8)
With regards to multiple disk, I know how to add mutlple disks, I'm asking about the DRIVES.
I select all the adfs in the game set, and they appear and I can select which one is the default disk for starting, but is there any way to select which virtual drive they go into, for example Disk 1 in DF0: and disk 2 in DF1: ?
THAT is what I can't see any ability to do here, and selecting "Insert new disk" from the F12 menu shows DF1, DF2 and DF3 all greyed out, unable to select.
In short, all I am asking is, is the ability to have multiple virtual disk DRIVES in use from the A600GS setup when setting up a game?

According to your hint I deleted my old Custom Setup and created a new one. RTG is enabled.
As you can see from my screenshot the RTG board is listed on ShowConfig and DEVS:Monitors/a600gs does have a600gs boardtype set. Unfortunately it still does not work on my setup. :(
Which Picasso96 version did you use? Or did you get the uaegfx driver from somewhere else?
-
I haven't tested with 3.2 but I do have RTG working as described with my preexisting AmigaOS 35 setup.
I did a test just now, and it didn't boot, into RTG but then I removed the fast RAM so there was only Chip and Z3 and it booted again, so you could try that. (next test it booted with fast ram as well so might have been a spurious one off glitch)

Ah yes, thanks for the hint! I need to disable Use Zorro 3 RAM, then the a600gs Monitor driver shows up in Screenmode Prefs as it should! As soon as Zorro 3 RAM is enabled A600GS modes are not even listed among Screenmode Prefs modes.
Guess I found a bug? Just don't know whether it's an A600GS bug, an Amiberry bug, an OS 3.2.2.1 bug or a Picasso96 3.5.0 bug... ;D
Probably one of the components hits some internal memory limits? I see 128 MB are used for the RTG card and 1024 MB made available as Fast RAM with Use Zorro 3 RAM. Could you check if A600GS driver reliably works with e.g. just 512 or 768 MB Z3-RAM or 64 MB RTG as a workaround? IMHO that's more than enough for a Classic Amiga. For the time being I have to stick to 2 MB Chip and 8 MB Fast, which is a bit meagre when running IBrowse or pre-loading larger WHDLoad games with only 4 MB Fast free when using Workbench on 1280x720/8bpp.

I just did a quick test install with OS3.2/Z3 Ram only/RTG/P96 (Aminet Version) and after renaming uaegfx to a600gs and changing the board name to a600gs in the tool types the new resolutions just pop up after reboot, no problems here :)

Winuae has same issues.
-
Winuae has same issues.
I can replicate it on Amiberry 7.0.1 too. When I set Z3-RAM to 1 GB uaegfx modes are no longer available. When I set it back to 512 MB an reboot, uaegfx modes are fine again.
Maybe you can help out with another Custom System config option then? Or stick to 512 MB Z3-RAM for the time being (as long as there is no upstream WinUAE bugfix which has trickled down to Amiberry-Lite)?
I'll check the WinUAE support forums whether this is known already and if not post a bug if I can replicate on latest WinUAE 5.3.1.

Been like it for years, drove me nuts for hours. Then I tried lowering Z3 and RTG mem and it worked.

Ah, I didn't know that! All the more, a way to set Z3-RAM to 512MB on the A600GS would be extremely valued. ;)
On a 2nd thought... if this happens only on Amiga OS (regardless of running on A600GS, WinUAE or Amiberry) - but _not_ on Amibench, it's more likely an AmigaOS or Picasso96 problem? ???

As far as I know, Amibench doesn't use picasso.
So could be a picasso issue. However, as Amiberry is largely based on WinUAE. It could still be a bug in WinUAE filtered down to Amiberry.

When I set Z3-RAM to 1 GB uaegfx modes are no longer available.
Maybe it´s a problem with "newer" P96 drivers ? I just installed OS3.2 with the P96 Archive from Aminet and I can use the 1GB Z3 Mem without a problem (as already stated above) ...

@SkulleateR Thanks for the hint! I must have overlooked this specific information... I'll report the issue to the P96 developer then, perhaps something can be done about it.

I purchased the P96 software some years ago, so I guess it is ok up to v 2.44 at least.

Hi All,
Have tried copying my workbench hdf file to the A600GS as a custom system, sadly when booting I get a red screen. I have copied kick31, just wondered if anyone else had experienced a similar issue and found a fix? :)
Geoff.

@IStartedSomething
Hi, and welcome to Amiga.org! Congrats on the A600GS!
Which Kickstart 3.1 are you using? And which version of Workbench does the HDF contain? I think you get a red screen if you combine the wrong Kickstart with the Workbench you are using (for example A500/2000 Kickstart 3.1 with Amiga 1200/4000 Workbench 3.1).

Don´t think it's the kickstart, it must have something to do with the things that get loaded after boot !
I got these problems also, with all kind of HDFs I throw at the A600GS but it´s weird, because if I install the same OS with the same Kickstart ON the A600GS itself everything works !
Example :
Installed OS3.9 on a 1GB HDF with Kick 3.1 A1200 (40.068) on WinUAE, put it on the A600GS -> Red Screen
Used an EMPTY HDF 1GB with the SAME Kick 3.1 and installed OS 3.9 on the A600GS -> works
I always wanted to deep dive into bug search but I have very minor spare time in the moment :(
-
I believe that a hdf containing multiple partitions will also give a red screen
-
Also depends on filesystem. If its not in rdb or rom, it will give red screen.
-

One thing causing the red screen is if your HDF files got "Full drive/RDB mode" enabled.
I wanted to do a OS 3.2 reinstall anyhow, so I setup the new system on Amiberry with all HDFs "Full drive/RDB mode" not enabled. These worked perfectly well on the A600GS.
If you use OS 3.1 please keep in mind your HDFs need to stay smaller than 4 GB. You may get around that limitation by using a modified custom ROM with suitable scsi.device (needed that on my original A1200 at least) and/or other stuff like the filesystem you want to use but that is rather cumbersome. As you need to stick to "Full drive/RDB mode" putting the filesystem in RDB via HDToolbox won't help.

* Add option to set alternate PAUSE MENU key (for keyboard lacking the default F12 key)
* German language support: translation contribution thanks to Philipp Lonke
* Spanish language support: translation contribution thanks to Javier De Las Rivas
SystemV46::
* ARM Native Support: AK-PNG datatype converted to native ARM from 68K code giving up to double speed when decoding PNG files.
* AmiSSL upgraded to version 5.19
Programs:
* Update version of Final Writer to version 7.2
-
Not to be a nag, but any updates on either Blitz Basic or AMOS being added to the A600GS? This is the forthcoming feature that I'm most looking forward to.
-
Add explicit option to add CDRom drive to custom systems.
I thought I would get on the bandwagon and try installing 3.2 from scratch on my A600GS. I've set up a custom system with a fresh, blank HD and ticket the box to add a CD-ROM drive but... how do I "insert" a CD ISO? Apologies if there's anything in the forum addressing this already but the search isn't working at the moment.
Edit: Figured it out. Explaining here for anyone as unimaginative as I apparently am.
Insert New Disk, change the drop-down to ISO files.
The UI could definitely be clearer. I was expecting CD0 to appear at the top like DF0 DF1 etc. Also, if you don't have a CD drive attached to your system, inserting an ISO silently fails. Feels like it should either warn you or remove the option from the dropdown.
3.2 up and running now :)

SystemV46:
* Add ARM based AK-JFIF datatype for 400% speed up on 1080p JPEG image.
OctaMED SoundStudio:
* Add "Projects->Open Recent ..." menu and supporting "Open Recent Projects" window. Save a list of opened and saved projects, limited to 10 and avoiding duplicates.
* Add new ED_NOTEOFF AREXX command and map this to "Left Shift F1" This allows easy editing of midi note off commands (inserts 00FFF in command section of a track line)
-
* Add ARM based AK-JFIF datatype for 400% speed up on 1080p JPEG image.
More of this ...
On a side note - is this being fed back into aros ?

Why would it? AK datatypes are owned by Amigakit. Every other improvement/fix for aros is already being fed back.

* Add ARM based AK-JFIF datatype for 400% speed up on 1080p JPEG image.
How does this work, is there some kind of "rabbithole" in amiberry that allows executing arm code within the 68k environment?
And if this is the case, what other opportunities could there be here?

46.1.1015 (28/02/2025):
A600GS:
* Add Italian language translation thanks to Samir Hawamdeh
* Add test for RDB based HDFs, when RDB found omit altered options to allow correct handling by AmiBerry
* Suppress editing of DEVICE VOLUME and BOOTPRI for RDB based HDFs as these are all in the control of the RDB
* Add option to limit Z3 memory space used to 1Gb, this should allow RTG and Z3 memory to be used on OS variants that inadvertently impose this limit.
YAM:
YAM v2.10 has been rebuilt with important bug fixes implemented. A new YAM support page has been added to the Wiki for A600GS / A1200NG users: https://wiki.amiga.org/yam
* Regenerate the flex generated C files from HTML2Mail.l and ParseMail.l with flex version 4.6 (run on the A600gs itself 🙂 ) as the OS4 version used for cross compiling was just slightly too old and caused occasional crashes.
* Fix bug in RecipientString GoActive method, custom MUI class that could set the same input handler on the window more than once and cause lock-ups due to queueing a node twice.
* Fix equivalent issue in GoInactive method
The last two fix an issue with the Forward window locking up and also the Edit draft window in some circumstances
AmiBerry:
Minor refactor of Z3mem options parsing to allow setting up of multiple Z3 memory "cards" , the previous parser would overwrite the same memory bank with the subsequant options causing some quirky side effects! The end result of this is to allow combinations of memory like 512 + 256 (for 768 total)

YAM v2.10 has been rebuilt with important bug fixes implemented.
Was an OS4 build also made with these fixes? Or will it be?
Best regards,

@nbache
As official YAM Development stopped (https://www.amiga-news.de/en/news/AN-2022-04-00095-EN.html) a few years ago , we are willing to progress the project so it does not die off. It is important to keep the applications on the A600GS and A1200NG up to date. We have already added up to date AmiSSL 5 support and fixed some important issues. An OS4 port would be perfectly feasible too.
-
I haven't as yet.
Just tried for a quick test whilst building something else on the other machine, and it needs a bit of attention to build with the recent OS4 SDK when I have more time I might take bit more in depth look. Might be just used the wrong makefile options as it generated alot more warnings than I would expect.
-
* Add option to limit Z3 memory space used to 1Gb, this should allow RTG and Z3 memory to be used on OS variants that inadvertently impose this limit.
Many thanks! I can now use the A600GS 'uagefx' graphics card on a bog standard OS3.2.2.1 install with Picasso 3.5.0 and 800 MB RAM.
However now when selecting 'Use Z3 RAM' option I get 800 MB Fast as default. What does the 'Limit Z3 to 1 GB' option do then?
Not that I am complaining as the now seemingly default 800 MB are more then enough for me and everything is working fine. :) Simply curious about what the new option might be good for when the former default 1 GB Fast got reduced to 800 MB Fast as default anyhow?
-
It limits the *total* Z3 ram, including that used by the Z3 graphics card to less than 1GiB (exceeding the 1GiB "barrier" being the reason for the issue)
In the is iteration it means you get a bank of 512MiB and 1 of 256MiB giving 756GiB of Z3 ram plus the 128MiB Z3 P96 card. (which leaves 128MiB spare )
Workebench will e reporting GB rather than GiB hence the 800+ instead of 756
-

Thanks for explaining!
But the point why I was asking is that the P96 issue on my OS 3.2.2.1 install disappeared _without_ selecting the '1 GB Z3 RAM limit' option. Default Z3 setting, now supplying 768 MiB RAM seems enough.

Ah I see - thanks for the details!

Are you saying that with limt Z3 to 1Gb unticked you only get 768 GiB ? That's not right. I will double check things my end. Usual cause for weirdness like that is not setting the bool to false in constructor, usual catch those before release but .....

Exactly.

The option is set but not the widget, fixed in next update.

Do I use my existing AmiShere account for updates, or do I create a new account bespoke the A600GS? I bought my A600GS right from AmigaKit and it hasn't had it's first update yet.
I appreciate ALL of the updates - it's becoming a nice small system.
-
@Jeff
You can use your existing AmiSphere account. Then you will get a list of your previous purchases from AmiStore as well (if you've bought something in the past on AmigaOS 4 for example). 8)

Thank You! I think I own everything they sell on there with credit leftover so... I am still waiting for some awesome looking packages to be released ;D

Just got round to digging out my Greaseweazle to try on the A600GS. I have a PC floppy drive but only flat cables (no twist) from the Amiga but it works fine from my PC if I tell the software to use drive 1. Is there a way to specify this for the A600GS? I just tried, hoping it would detect or try different drive numbers but nothing happens :(

Had the same problem and just bought a twisted cable for 2€ of EBay ;)
You can also use an older Greaseweazle F1, that use a flat cable ...

Just selecting DF1 in menu, will not work. You need to set it on GW level. Its currently being worked on / added.

The following software updates for the A600GS (https://wiki.amiga.org/a600gs) have been uploaded today through the in-built live update system. They are available to download for all registered AmiSphere (https://wiki.amiga.org/amisphere) users:
46.1.1049 (04/04/2025):
A600GS:
A600GS / A1200NG
Include Italian translation and updates to German and Spanish
Internal refactor of settings loading, to prevent subclasses overiding user settings with their defaults. Specifically this fixes the floppy setup being partially overwritten in custom fullsystems.
Fix side menus closing when mouse hits left edge of screen. Some lower level code to track the mouse position was needed as the high level GUI event did not provide enough info.
Fix a crash when a RDB Harddisk was editing and the disabled bootpri field was parsed.
The Fullsystem class Limit Z3 memory gadget was not always in sync with the true setting, fixed.
Greaseweazle and Samisara keyboard firmware update support added. (A1200NG only)
Machine type detection added. Frontend menu now knows if it runing on A600GS or A1200NG
Unload the suspend on idle pulse module, to prevent the nasty click on the rear socket / RCA Audio outputs when sound had been ilde for a short while.
Improve serial port setup, scans for available ports and adds options to EDIT section. Filtering out greaseweazle and unconnected ttyS0.
Add options to setup Greasewaezle drive cable type, when greazeweazle is slected for real floppies.
Add CF Card support for A1200NG
AmiBerry:
Merge with 5.8.7 srcs
SystemV46:
* CLI Commands:
Add C:GetMachineName
Add C:SystemReboot to reboot SystemV46, Exit to Frontend GUI, Reboot machine or power down machine.
* Generalise the default background images
* Add machine dependent logo to AB-Dock.

Just wanted to say thanks, my little 600GS has come so far since I first got it - these updates are fantastic and the support has been great too. Will we be getting any programming languages available for download or preinstalled?

Happy Easter
The following software updates for the A600GS (https://wiki.amiga.org/a600gs) have been uploaded today through the in-built live update system. They are available to download for all registered AmiSphere (https://wiki.amiga.org/amisphere) users:
46.1.1069 (17/04/2025):
A600GS:
* Toggling auto login now works without having to login on that session!
* Bug fix for testing products for registered status.
* Check for Greasweazle before adding options to prevent open ended delays
whilst scanning for hardware, this only affects the greaseweazle itself,
currently no test for no floppy drive being attached, which can cause similar delays. Similar support for Drawbridge under investigation.
* Add SCDard capacity info to System general tab. If more than 10% of card is unused enable button allowing resize of partition on next restart. This allows backups of the sdcard to automagically scale to a new larger sdcard.
* When booting on an A1200NG enable F10 as well as F12 to start AmiBench directly.
Amiberry:
* Due to merges with upstream refactoring the virtual keyboard code relied on a variable that was not set till after keyboard was initialised in the local patches, fixed.
SystemV46:
* Update to AmiSSL 5.20
AmiBench:
* Control of machine's power off/full reboot/restart AmiBench can be now controlled from the AmiBench menu through a requester offering the 4 options.
Reduces risk of accidentally shutting down etc due to accidental choice of wrong menu item.
Programs:
* Update HippoPlayer to latest update.

@amigakit
Thank you for the update.
Playing around with the new update, I found the following issues. Maybe they are also in the older firmware updates:
- The default tool icon (sys:prefs/env-archive/sys/def_tool.info) is set to Project, not Tool
- The RX command does not seem to work. At least rx "say 'hello'" does not do anything.
- Closing EaglePlayer crashes the system / shows a "Memory freed twice" window.
- After updating a profile with a full RDB hard disk, the system no longer boots from the hard disk.
Thanks,
Flynn

Hi guys,
After the latest update, my USB key no longer appears in the volumes list when trying to upload ADF files.
Has anyone else experienced this issue?

Just fixed the the type of the def_tool icon, I had previous fixed up all (most of) the default disk types but missed that one.
RX does work, but SAY doesn't ...
try starting YAM and then doing
RX "ADDRESS YAM QUIT"
to verify.
- After updating a profile with a full RDB hard disk, the system no longer boots from the hard disk.
Need a little more explanation here. What exactly did you do?
If you had a system booting from a non RDB harddisk file and you set it to RDB, it will no longer be seen as a valid diskfile and so not boot.
If you added a RDB harddiskfile it *should* be auto detected but could be edge cases I've missed.
If you added a RDB disk to a system already booting from another partition / harddisk file, then you may need to check no partitions on the RDB have a greater or equal bootpri to the disk you were booting from.

Are you still having this issue? No changes to the mechanism that drives this have been made, so I'm not sure what might be wrong.

Thanks for fixing the default icon.
Regarding RX: there are serveral REXX scripts for sending various information (uptime, weather, system infos) to IMP3. They are not doing anything or are crashing.
And about the RDB issue: it seems that the last update broke RDB support. I had a working 3.2.3 installation created with the previous (not current) patch. It worked fine until I edited the profile with the current firmware. I did not change anything regarding the harddrives, just selected a new ROM. And the RDB harddisk was no longer booting.
I deleted the profile and re-imported a working full RDB harddisk again. And guess what... the RDB hard disk is not booting.
And just to be clear: There is only one harddisk, the RDB one.

46.1.1086 (16/05/2025):
SystemV46:
* XADMaster.library Version 13.0 added
* UnArchiver V46.1 added for decompressing any archives supported by XAD, such as LHA, Zip etc
* Modify default icons for archives to open UnArchiver as default.
* Add UnArchiver to AB-Dock
(https://wiki.amiga.org/images/thumb/8/8e/A600gs_amibench_unarchiver.png/600px-A600gs_amibench_unarchiver.png) (https://wiki.amiga.org/images/8/8e/A600gs_amibench_unarchiver.png)
A1200NG and A600GS:
* Update German translations
* Add the new amiberry.map_cd_drives=true option when enabling CD Image insertion. Fixes ISO not mounting.
* Add option for disabling the boot jingle
* When the insert disk window was closed by pressing the start button on the joypad rather than a select or cancel gadget, the filechooser object was not deleted. Resulting in a bad reference when it was deleted later in the insert disk windows destructor, Fixed by reorder destructor sequence.
* Improve positioning of insert disk window when openeing.
* Add work around for memory leak that occured deep in the system when an window without borders / decoration had a blank / fully transparent mouse pointer set., and all other windows open were also borderless. This is effectively what SDL does when putting the window in SDL_RelativeMouseMode() and hiding the mouse pointer. AmiBerry uses this mode, so every time the currently running title was resumed a large chunk of CMA memory was leaked. This was the underlying cause of the issue people have had with inserting a large number of disks whilst installing 3rd party OSes. The work around involved replacing the blank mouse pointer with an almost invisible single pixel pointer and recreating the RelativeMouseMode at a higher level.

Nice update, some nice features! and it seems to work with a monitor that it didn't work with before.
I've noticed a mouse issue since the update though, nothing major. There appears to be a single white pixel that stays roughly in the centre of image that gets pulled in the direction of the mouse cursor then pings back to the centre.
I can get a video or something if need be.

Hi Twiggy,
Can confirm that bug. I have the same issue with the white pixel in the center of the screen on the A1200NG. Discovered it yesterday.

Same here
-
Its a workaround, for a memory leak bug.
I'm sure it is going to be looked into further.

The following software updates for the A600GS (https://wiki.amiga.org/a600gs) and A1200NG (https://wiki.amiga.org/a1200ng) have been uploaded today through the in-built live update system. They are available to download for all registered AmiSphere (https://wiki.amiga.org/amisphere) users:
46.1.1110 (06/06/2025):
SystemV46:
* Move PlayMP3 to Utilities drawer
* Add new AmigaKit version of More V46 to SYS:Utilities
* Update filesysbox.library
PlayMP3:
* Add AmiBench support. Dropping icons on PlayMP3 icon now starts MP3 playback. Add to AB-Dock Add UNIQUE switch, only one instance of PlayMP3 can run with the UNIQUE switch, other started that way will send commands to the extant player and then exit. Current command support is limited to ACTION_QUIT. Initially this allows clicking on AB-Dock icon to start playing files and then clicking a second time to stop playback.
ArmMP3File backend:
* Add opencount variable, to monitor opening depth and avoid the one 68k client killing anothers threads
* Add ASL requester when no files are parsed via command line or amibench startup message, add BASEDIR option to set the initial directory of the requester. Add directory scanning if an added path is a directory. With combinations of IGNOREM3U IGNOREMP3 and RECURSE options you can add all playlists or all mp3 files from a direcory heirarchy.
Add SHUFFLE option. Simple pseudo random shuffle, don't use for cryptology 🙂
Work:
* Add Work:Sound/Music/MP3 folder and three sample MP3s
