Bard's Tale series and (which I can't find anymore)Nobunaga's Ambition.
-
[EDIT]
Strange.....double post. Corrected.
-
Hi,
Kick Off 2 would be high on the list since I played that one endless. By the way there are still some people holding Kick Off tournaments! It's far from dead.
Second would be Shadow of the Beast. I don't have to say much about it, it speaks for itself.

Your the man!
That's so funny!

Ah yes....very adult and respectful behaviour.
Anyway, back ontopic. Sure SotB was great visually and above all the music is phenomanal (sp?), but the gameplay itself? Dunno, pretty boring if you ask me.
-
@Methuselas
Bard's Tale series rocked, probably my favorite "classic" games
(although I played them mostly on C64).
@sir_inferno
:D
-
Err, I think the one I played was Wings.
I wonder how it is on the Game Boy Advance?
-
@justthatgood
Yeah Wings kept me busy a lot. It did you good when having a second diskdrive. That swapping is a pain in the ass.
I wonder how it is on the Game Boy Advance?
More then a year ago I played it for 1 minute. Loved it!

@-D-
I started off on Bard's Tale with my old Apple IIe, before I got my first A500. I remember when I 'upgraded' that poor thing. I traded it in, plus 150$ for an A500 with a fully populated ADDRam card, 2.04 roms and Trumpcard SCSI controller with a whopping 80 meg HDD. (Sadly, with that drive, *I* was the big boy on the block.)
Sigh...Imagine my suprise when I found out that A) I had a 'NEW' rev5 mobo, instead of my old rev6, so they sliced a trace on the board and added some funky wiring to make the 2.04 rom work and B) Bard's Tale was a 1.3 only game. :-o I couldn't play it, even with a softkick disk, 'cos it wouldn't load, due to the sliced trace. I was devastated. :-(
[EDIT] -
IF anyone still PLAYS BT, I have a hacked character ADF disk, so Garth sells EVERY item in the game, if you want a copy. It was MUCH easier to just BUY them armor and weapons, instead of creating new characters, everytime my party died. :-D I think I still have my character, GOLD, on it who has a couple of million or so in gold.

@ Coder
Man, I don't know HOW many Ultima IV B disks I fried, 'cos I couldn't use my second disk drive. Every time, I'd wait til the disk activity stopped, just like they said to and I'd end up with a checksum error....
After that happened a few times, I got in the habit of playing with copies. :-?

well i'd just like to point out, i'm not an adult. so NAH! :-D

Hi,
One thing that was always amazing is the fact that they could squeze so much on one floppy disk. Something I liked to share with my bloated Windows friends.
Coder
-
Superfrog and Supercars2.
-
Hi,
Let's face it, there are so many great Amiga games that if you make a top 3 you want to change it again after 1 minute.
Here's another one:
Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade - Adventure game
Coder
-
You're right Coder,
I've seen more titles in this thread of games I loved to play :-D
Bye,
Spidey
-
My favourite game of all dimentions
is Total Chaos AGA.
-
MechForce is right at the top of my list. But close runners up are, Alien Breed, D Generation, Another World (Out of this World) and Flashback.
-
Here's another few:
Curse of the Azure Bonds
Turrican II
Bane of the Cosmic Forge
-
MOst of the amiga games i like, i can barely remember due to the amiga bein locked in the attic, unless sumones thrown it, probably. i thought I liked loom, allowed me to think of needle work wit out doin it, oh and monkey islands, good old lucas arts, and sensible soccer, cos if u positioned ur character right, u could leg it up the field, not get tackled, and put the ball right next to the post and score each time, good old italy versus latvia games,
-
Any of the Lucasarts games (especially the Monkey Island and Indiana Jones games), Alien Breed 3D 2: The Killing Grounds (my mates couldn't believe they were seeing this on an Amiga).
-
Hoya!
Well, there are MANY!!!
SpeedBall 2
SuperCars 2
Alien Breed (all 2D versions, except AB2 which is INSANELY difficult!!!)
BATTLE SQUADRON!!!!!!
And so on, there are... MANY!!! :-D
Be funky

Lemmings 2 had me going for seven years before I completed it. It had that ultimate just-go-and-try-and-save-one-more-lemming difficulty level set absolutely perfectly.
-
Depending on which machine I turn on, I have always been fond of Moria. I also like the later version/variant Zangband. Scorched Tanks is a regular Saturday nite 2 player with my drinking bud, Phil. He beats the snot out of me every time. We also played many hours of Mechwar. My wife is a serious shoot 'em up addict and played Wings and Rocket Ranger for incredibly huge number of hours. I woke up one morning to find her still on the joystick trying to win Rocket Ranger. The sad thing is when my rather dense bud Vinnie came over one afternoon, fired up Rocket Ranger and in about an hour was on the moon watching killer zombie bimbettes slide down ropes. I kept screaming at him to shoot them but he insisted he wanted to meet them and talk. Then they killed him. Probably overall I have wasted more time on Klondike AGA and Megaball AGA. I have no reflexes so Moria was probably the only game I ever won. :-(
-
Hi,
Any thoughts on The Lost Patrol? I liked it.
Coder
-
Superfrog,
speedball2,
Sensible Soccer( especially 2-player)
Moonstone
Pirates
Eye of the beholder1&2
knights of the sky
Cannon Fodder 1
-
Cannon Fodder, without a doubt!
Also Geoff Crammonds Grand Prix (bit biased, cos' in later years I ended up working for Microprose as a games tester!)
:-D
-
Wings
Superfrog
Caos Engine :-)
-
I think the emphasis was on "game" not "games"...
-
Probably Cannon Fodder. Something about it just keeps me coming back. Such an innovative game, funny as heck, and fairly challenging.
-
Well I know this topic is meant to be about your fave game but, I have to say My fav game/s is the dizzy series
-
Hmmm ...
I love Amiga games. I am building a retro-WB1.3 A2000 specifically for this purpose, because WinUAE is great, but there is something about a reall Amiga ....
Here are some of my favorites, although, I know that I am going to miss some:
1. Datastorm
2. Battle Squadron
3. R-Type I & II
4. Shadow of the Beast I
5. Motor Masacre (aka "Road Raiders")
6. Armour-Geddon
7. FA-18 Interceptor
8. Dungeon Master
9. Full Metal Planet
10. Gods
and many, many more ....
Then, there are the really cheesey games that are just too much fun, even though they are not the highest quality:
1. Persian Gulf Inferno (There still isn't a game out there that has a pistol that sounds as good as this one)
2. Impossible Mission II (I laugh so hard when your guy falls to his death and makes that "Whaaaaaah!!!" scream ...)
3. Barbarian (The on from Palace Software with the two guys fighting, that sound of slapping meat when you head-butt and the "NNNYET!" when you swing, I roll on the floor laughing ...)
4. Stunt Car Racer (just too goofy)
5. Zany Golf
Well, I could go on, but, I have already sucked up enough bandwidth.
-Mike
-
Ruff 'n' Tumble
Deluxe Galaga
Banshee
Mr. Nutz
Tass Times in Tone Town
Lost Dutchman's Mine
Super Stardust
Slam Tilt
Ultimate Body Blows
Fightin' Spirit
X-Tream Racing
Speris Legacy
Wishbringer
Breathless
Theme Park
Boy, there are heaps... but if I were to choose my favourite, I would have a tough time choosing between Ruff 'n' Tumble and Deluxe Galaga.
-
Syndicate, Frontier, Dune II, F1GP and Cannon Fodder.
Bit mainstream I know but i played most of them on a PC originally, only playing them later on an Amiga and realising what I was missing :)
Ohh and Sensible World of Soccer.
-
Alot of people have mentioned my favs.
The Lost Patrol was cool. I might just go play it now.
... :-)
-
Sensible soccer was my favourite. Pure class. And who could forget X-It, formerly called Zonked! Pure classics.
-
Hoya!
@Drwho
YES! The cheesey games you mention (whaaa??!!! Stunt Car cheesey??!!!!)are great.
I remeber laughing like mad the first time I played Persian Gulf! ;-D Especially where you get MANY terrorists on the screen at the same time!!!
I had Impossible Mission on CPC and although the sfx were surely different, I love the zany side of the game.
The same for Barbarian! Boy, both versions are groovy, and hard too! Ever tried Palace's Barbarian 2 on Amiga? Lots of humourous touches in it! ;-)
As for Zany golf... I ADORE this game, and so does my bro! We can play it for hours.
Amiga ROCKS!!!!!
Be funky

HAPPY AMIGA USER FROM FINLAND

Super Skidmarks, especially on linkup with 2 AGA machines so they acted as one, and the add-ons pack (something like 11 disks in all - hard disk a must!).
Oddball favourite has to be Robocop3, but only the driving bits.
-
I loved Super Skidmarks! :-D
-
hum:
syndicate
agony
flashback
epic
dune
dune2
and most of all:
HiredGuns
-
To many to mention! :-D
-
Mmm, a bit "old skool" but mine were
Hybris
Blasteroids
Blood Money
Deuteros
Populous (2-player link-up)
-
Lotus Turbo Challenge 2.
-
Anyone of u familiar with Super Twintris ?
It's a good remake of the well known Tetris (Super Twintris again being an enhanced version of Twintris), but much more fun to play. Very adictive :-D
...and ofcourse Speedball 2, Kick Off 2 and Pinball Dreams, but they've all been named before here
-
Nobody here used to play Bloodwych?
I spent countless weekends at my best friend's home playing this game with him. Took us ages to finish it!
-
Aaaargh! It's another tune that gets in your head!!
Always had a 'smooth' feel to it that appealed to me. There was a good copier with tetris built in, but I lost it ages ago ...
-
Well I mostly played:
Chuck Rock (I still say the original was better then the sequel)
Mr. Nutz (just gotta love that crazy squierl)
Elite II (sleep deprivity guaranteed)
Wings of Fury I and II (almost the best game)
Xenon 2 (damn hard game)
Tilt (remember than damn bouncing ball)
Harlequin (hard yet grat)
Cannon Fodder (you couldnt let go)
and a tetris of who I dont remember the name (yes I also played with the addictive simplicity of Tetris).
-
I reckon I enjoyed
Sensible Soccer for sport,
Turrican 2 for shoot em up,
Monkey Island 1 adventure,
Knights of the Sky for flight sim
Meglo mania for god game
Dimos Quest for the puzzle and
Klondyke for Cards.
But there are lots of others I really liked.
-
My favourite game has to be poing, which is a freeware arkanoid clone but it is so much more.
It has loads of innovative ideas and cuts out the pointless powerups which litter other clones. Cool computer generated music, funky graphics (for an arkanoid game) and sooo playable. Anyone who hasn't tried it go to Aminet now!! Oh and poing5 is better than poing6 in my opinion so get poing5. (poing4 was good but i can't find it on aminet.)
n.b. you will need a good mouse and good reactions!
-
I LOVED Prince of Persia
good swordfighting and very challenging jump&run
plus a great atmosphere.
-
It Came From The Desert.
Pure intense action and so much excitement created!!
Love it, some really nicce graphics in this game too.
And above all, runs flawlessly on an A1200 with no hacks or anything.
Genius!! :-)
-
Twintris is the best Tetris clone ever, bar none! NONE, I TELL YOU! :-D
-
Tetris Pro was also quite good.
-
best game? hmm.. super stardust was awesome, shadow fighter, elfmania (okay, maybe not the best gamewise but i loved to drool at those graphics), pinball illusions, flashback (had me gripped for ages, esp after i finally got past washington start lol), zeewolf (especially the sequel), swos (of course), champ manager, toki (aaahh, toki!!!! the monkey thing!! wicked!) and lastly but certainly not least, turrican 2.. infact if anyone wishes to help me design the best version of turrican ever (3d/2dish) then the more the merrier, u know my email address.. am curently using darkbasic for prototyping but i can do c (reluctantly lol) and assembly (but for arm doh!!).. its gotta kickasss, and need help!
worthy of mention.. kid chaos which with tweaking and better thought into enemies and level design, look and feel could have been the best platform game ever.. it had speed, it had looks but the gameplay felt nearly there but not quite.. far too slow to speed up and where are the loop the loops??
kid chaos was a sonic ripoff btw! worth checking out if u havent already!!
-
There's waaaay too many games.
But a couple would be Pirates, Zak McKracken, Syndicate, Wings, Oil Imperium, Police Quest 2, Hero's Quest (Quest for Glory 1) and..crap, I seem to have forgotten the name of it but this last one is a game in which ya play a gold miner. You buy equipment and either go to a mine, or a river, to get gold. Sell the gold, get rich, buy new stuff and yada yada. I was like seven when I played that game, so hey.
-
:-)
best ever?
Agony / Leander have to feature.
Oh and Cannon Fodder!
That was brill :-) No it was "skill".
*Sad 80's retro mode off*
-
Oh and erm..
Pong?
you had to scroll side to side shotting harpoon splitting gian t balloons.
Ace.
-
Did anyone else like the Pong loader game on Super Skidarks? Smart 4 player mode and all :-)
-
Mortal Kombat 2 kicked ass.
Was a very good version too, runs as good as the arcade version :-)
-
Only tried the first one - did the second one have more frames? I compared it to a friend's PC version and there were at least half the number of animation frames IIRC :-(
-
HopperJF wrote:

I DON'T get those controls mastered..
-
