Hi All! Can someone identify a VGA monitor that displays both pal/ntsc, or even if there is such a thing?
Also, what is an example of a TFT monitor? Is that what that is and does?
Any information would be much appreciated.

Hi Brad,
PAL (512 lines) and NTSC (480 lines) are standards for broadcasting and screens were designed to show one or the other (but sometimes both) depending on what country they were sold for use in.
VGA is a graphics standard for 640x480 pixels. It became a generic term for the type of connector and higher res screens can be shown.
I have a TV which can display PAL or NTSC from the TV on scart input, and accept PC input via the VGA connector and this is what I use with my Amiga and Morphos machines. I can't connect the Amiga to the VGA input without a scan doubler and even the official Commodore RGB to VGA adapter doesn't create a signal the TV can use.
TFT stands for Thin Film Transistor and is they type of tech used to create the image, so is a different thing to the inputs.
In summary, you can definitely have a flat screen which will take PAL/NTSC input on one input and VGA on another (as I have). You might still be able to get one that accepts both 15kHz and VGA signals through the same input. These used to be referred to as Multisync monitors in the Amiga mags but in a time of tubes, not flat screens.

VGA is its own standard, PAL/NTSC has no place in the VGA standard only if you use RF/Composite, what amiga are you planning to use? The BENQ 702a and 902a work very well... you can also go to HDMI easily...

Thank you, all terrific information. I am currently running my A1200 OS 3.2.1 using ScanPlus AGA Connected to
a BenQ FP937s monitor. Which displays DBLNTSC Hires no Flicker quite well. But will not display PAL modes at all.
I lived in Switzerland for ten years and collected a lot of production software which runs on PAL, a number of Graphics
programs but they won't display on this monitor so I am struggling. In the past on another A1200 I had an Indivison MK II
graphics card, this was super and changed on the fly to what ever was running. I was hoping the ScanPlus would do similar.
Also back in the day I owned a NEC Multisync which did the same thing. Would love to find one now. But both of those
solutions are cost prohibitive for me. Are you saying I can run duel graphics displays on a single monitor?

Oh, that's an easy one. That's the Dell U2410f. You may have seen it on Sunday at the Commodore Los Angeles Super Show 2022; it was connected to the Ultimate 64. That Dell scans down to 15 KHz, doing Amiga screenmodes very well through its VGA port. It also have HDMI, a DisplayPort, and a composite input that does NTSC or PAL.

Oh, just digging up this older thread... Just before the June Pacific Commodore Expo NW, I bought the Dell SE2722H for $110 new. It comes with VGA and HDMI ports.
Yes, it scans down to 15 KHz. when I used my RGB-to-VGA buffered cable! I haven't tested all Amiga screenmodes with it, just Hi-Res. There are no other ports, i.e., no composite, s-video, nor DVI. There is no audio pass-through on it; so when used in HDMI mode, I must use a HDMI audio extractor/splitter that will give me an analog audio output.
Price now up to $140-150,

Personally, (after seeing them used on Chris Edwards Restoration YT channel), I purchase two Dell U2410 off eBay, both sold with shipping for les than $100 USD.
They have VGA, 2 X DVI, HDMI and component & composite ports and can act as a USB hub.
Syncing to 15.7 kHz, my Amigas easily show NTSC & PAL HiRes screens with no need for anything other than an Amiga 23-pin to 15-pin VGA adapter

At a different forum, I found out that the Dell P2222H monitor also multi-scans down to 15 KHz.
