Title: VGA to DVI or HDMI best picture options

I'm looking to convert the output from my voodoo 3 from analog to digital.

What is the best option for quality?  Would a simple $3 converter work, do I need something more fancy to get great results?

Hi Matt3K!

During the Summer, I bought one of these VGA-to-DVI converters for NWCA (https://www.nwca.com/vga-to-dvi-converter-powered-5v-2a-adapter-include.html), they are very cheap (even cheaper now that they're on sale!) and work very very well :)

What resolution do you use with the converter?  I'm going to use at least 1280x1024x24 for workbench.  Is it solid and clean?

Hi Tygre,

I bought one of these and it doesn't work well.  Everything is dark and almost unreadable.  I tried the voodoo as well as amiga video with the same results.

Any ideas?  Perhaps it is defective.

I don't think you'll ever get a better picture that way, sloppy analogue to digital, just an upscale of a bad picture.

I'm sorry to read that it doesn't work :( I would think too that it's defective: mine provides a very nice picture, undistinguishable from using direct VGA... Let me take a picture and post it for you. Maybe you could post a picture as well for comparison?
