Hi guys
Well the other day I fitted a set of 3.1 roms into my standard desktop amiga and it takes about 30secs to start up. I thought that the amiga might be searching for a HD so Today I fitted a formatted amiga internal HD 2.5" 2.2 gig and that refuses to boot and it still takes 30secs to get to the insert disk screen. also the floppy drive seems to be having trouble loading disks (ok it doesnt load them atall) I get so far and it says software failure for games and when I insert WB3.0 or any other util I get not a dos disk in drive. So any help would be great, I have ordered another internal floppy drive with should be here by the end of the week or the beginning of next week.
Thanks all
Peter :-)

Update:
Sorry me bad, I found an old 44 pin ide cable lying in a drawer with only 43 wires and tryed that and it booted up fine, So I take it the HD was spinning to fast for the amiga?????????

That's normal. Kickstart 3.1 has a longer start-up time than 3.0 specifically due to hard drives not being initialised quick enough for Kickstart to find them. Some drives still require you to manually reboot before they are found though.
