Hi All,
Has anybody got pinout information between the CyberstormPPC and the CyberVisionPPC card ?
I am thinking about making an adaptor to connect a generic PC Permedia GFX card to the Cyberstorm for a laugh.
There are lot's of cheap ones with better specs on Ebay.
Thanks in advance

That’s essentially what the G-Rex does, I think. I suspect this is going to require more complexity than a simple physical adapter, unfortunately. Would be very cool if that’s not the case, though.
Have you checked the CS/CV manuals? I don’t know if there are schematics in there. Otherwise I’d suggest posting at EAB or A1K—there are a lot of people there with deep, low-level technical knowledge.

i wish it was passive, but there are a pair of chips common on the g-rex, bvision and cvision cards:-
Cypress Semiconductor CY7C375I-83AC, and CY7C374I-83AC
apparently these are both 128cell macrocell flash CPLD's - so i suspect they are responsible for completing a lot of the PCI glue logic. they certainly get hot enough!
i have no idea on CPLD programming or reading configs, so looking at it, you'd need to pull the config out of these chips and implement your own version... :(
I'd ditch my mediator, and put my CS-Mk3 in my A4k in a heart beat for a g-rex or equivalent though....

Thanks for the replies all,
The reason I am contemplating this is, the Permedia2 chip has a PCI 2.1 interface built in and the cards are very basic in design,
therefore I suspect the interface to the CVision card will be mostly Generic.

You could try and ask the chief in charge of this formerly famous company:
https://www.p-5.eu
But be polite and ask for repair informations, schematics excerpt or similar. Donot mention a hardware build, as he will probably tell you he is already working on the same thing and then sue you, or at least scare you off... :P :o ;D
