Hi, All, I posted on here for over 15 years as “punkyclown”, but since I only had a 6 character
password I lost all my posts and all my connections to fellow Amigans. I tried for months to get
someone’s attention at the site but got no response. Obviously I am not too happy about that,
but now gotta move on... Okay, Does anyone know if it’s possible to use an ssd card in the CFO: slot
as fast ram? I have a stock A1200 and have no money for accelerator cards with extra ram. It’s
amazing to me how little I can do with just stock ram. Sorry to be so down in the mouth today.
Any help will be much appreciated.

The only viable option for PCMCIA RAM are SRAM cards, afaik. And they are not cheap.
-
hmm... a look at e-bay (https://www.ebay.com/bhp/sram-card) does not look to bright...... ???
Edit: I wonder how the electronics look, and if it is possible to make such card?

There are cards popping up on ebay once in a while based upon this, i think, but i never actually bought one. Coz they're not verified known good.

Looks like the PCMCIA connectors are running out of stock (EOL). Don't laptops use them anymore?
-
No, laptops use Express card (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ExpressCard) nowdays. At least does my 2010 dell use such card.
Or just replaced by USB since usb can add most peripherals to any computer (fitted with usb ports) or portable.

There used to be warnings in the Amiga mags that using PCMCIA ram would slow the Amiga 1200 down by about half. I don't recall if that was because of the cards or the interface.
Just somethinng to be aware of if you continue to look.

If i remember correct, it was the interface being to slow for efficient ram use in A1200 or A600...
Was the amiga version equipped with DMA/BusMastering?
