Hi
How practical, sensible etc is it to use an Amiga 590 on an A1000. I know the slot means turning the thing around but what are the other problems to look out for.
Thanks.

The slot is higher on the 1000, so you'll need to but a book or something under the 590. Good use for an RKM. :-) Seems to me there was some issue about grounding on the A1000 slot. I ran a 1000 with a Zorro II expansion box. I ran a separate ground wire from inside the 1000 to the expander.

unless there is a Kickstart adapter with a 1.3 ROM in the A1000 you cannot autoboot the HDD. The only Controiller Card allowing Autoboot on the A1000 was the Comspec SA1000 which doesnt require a KS ROM and allows you to write a KS Image to the HDD. (Due to this it doesn't support the RDB configuration.)

all you need is kickstart1.3 disk in the A1000 to to auto boot the A590 into Workbench or load AmigaOS onto it

Yes but you still need to boot from the Kickstart Disk. The idea if having an Autoboot HDD is to never require a Disk at cold boot time. Which was the reason the Original A2090 didn't do well.
