Title: Amiga to PC conversion desktop case?
Post by: brostenen on September 06, 2018, 09:49:58 PM
Hi all.
I have been wondering and googling, in order to see if anyone has done an Amiga in a PC desktop case conversion. I know there are an a600 in an old Apple PowerPC case. Everything I find is tower's. I am asking out of curiosity.

So I didn't read the whole link, but just idly curious if someone can provide the cliff notes.  How is it this guy can produce an entire big box case for "$x pledged of $100,057 goal" when the A500/A1200 case guy needed at least double that?  And took like three years to ship a product?

A500 and A1200 cases required multiple large, complex molds to be tooled. The cost of small production runs for many colors also had to be covered. The desktop face plate and drive bay inserts of the 1500+ are probably much simpler to tool.

Yup... I have seen that 3000 inspired case. I am not that keen on the design. Though anybody seen a desktop PC case, with an Amiga fitted inside. There must be some projects or two out there.

Back in the day I had my A1000 in a 386 IBM tower case turned on it's side  in desktop format. I had so many external cases for hard drives, CD-ROM, hard drive controller, second power supply, etc. it just got to be too cumbersome. Once it was all in one case, I no longer had trouble with connections coming apart between peripherals and the motherboard, Rejuvenator, Derringer, fllickerfixer, etc. Year ago there was an article about Frankenthousand in Bitplane magazine.

Hmmm.... Should I or should I not create a desktop then?
After I asked the question if anyone have seen any desktop case mod's, then I must admit that I began thinking and googling after 1991-1995 PC cases, just to see what PC cases there have been created.
