Hi! Im Just getting back heavily into Amiga, after getting slighly disrtracted by all the glits n glamour (furr coat & no knickers) of the pc world.
I`ve unmoth balled my A1k, and Eyetech Z41200, and ordered me a nice shiny G4 A1!
Got my first migy when I was 15, Screen Gems, A500 1.3.2. after 5 years I part ex her for an a1200 with Diamond Computers in Bristol. After waiting 12months for a cd-rom to apear, like most i ended up buying a CD32 to slave it to my 1200/030 via parnet. Eventually selling them when i was 24.
I wandered amlesly for a while, then found youre sight a few months ago! Its GREAT!!!
I`ve been bitten by the BUG all over again, although some of my knoledge on migys has gone, the passion is as strong as ever....
Heres to a bright future.

Welcome back!

Welcome home! :-) :pint:
U have made your comeback at the right time, os4 is nearly there, and as i always have thought, 2004 will be a good year :-)

Thanks mate, do you know what hd`s work, that fit into the edge conector of the A1000, some one once said years ago, it was the same as the a500`s. So would an A570 work? and would I still need to use the kickstart disk to initilaise things :-(

Welcome to Amiga.org!!

If i were u, i`d be spending money on the a1, instead of the a1000.
a1000`s are becoming rare, so they better stay original, would be a nightmare if it got broken due to upgrading or modifying.

Welcome back. As a recent returning user myself I wanted to give you a personal hello.
-
Cheers Restore, thanks for the tip, best keep it original then. Glad i didnt chuck the box out. :-D

That makes two of us :-P
I'm also reviving my Amiga-days now, I just dusted off trusty 1200 and bought an A4000tower to play with :-D , which will hopefully arrive today. I also got my hands on a brand new original casing for my 4000 tower on ebay, so I should soon have the mintest condition 4000 tower ever :-)
Maybe I should have got an A1 like you, but nah, I can get that aswell, later, when OS4 is out.. :-D

@mucker:
Seriously :-) In the summer holidays, our country is flooded with german backpackers and mobile caravans.
and btw, the a1000 is already a collectors item, since there are so few of them left

@restore2003

That was a joke, hope noone gets offended :-P
Alle deutscher sind natürlich willkommen in Norwegen!

@morley:
Well, thank heavens that they only bring sauerkraut and beer with them, instead of machine guns this time ;-)
-
@restore
They can leave their sauerkraut at home, I have tasted it once, and... to put it this way: det er verre enn lutefisk.

@Mucker
There was a thread here a few days ago on attaching
devices to the A1000 in the hardware forum.
If you have a few extra bucks to spare, there are a
number of things you can do with the A1k and not destroy
the machine.
Check it out.

I think that is correct. But if memory serves me correctly, since the two were on different sides (A500 on left and A1000 on right) you had to physically face the unit backward to connect it to the A1000. There was also a height difference I believe, which made it require some props underneath to support it.
