Who here is able to make a replacement front panel? I would like to have one that has a cut out for a floppy drive.
-
Can you elaborate a bit more? I am assuming you would still be looking to keep the drive on the right hand side as you are facing the front of the A1000.
-
Yes, I want direct replacement with the same specs.
I would like to put a fdd or a fdd emulator in its place.

In place of what? The RAM expansion cover?
-
I do not want to cut the face plate to put a fdd in it.

Maybe you should sketch a picture of what it is you're trying to do here? I don't think it's exactly clear to folks. Are you trying to add a second floppy or Gotek mounting location to the front of your A1000, to the left of the existing floppy drive?

I would like to put a Gotek in the FDD Bay, but I don't want to cut the front out.

I've had an interest in something like this as well. Basically a completely stock A1000 bezel, but instead of the floppy slot there is a rectangular hole for a Gotek drive.

I also would like to have a front bezel that does not have a hole. It could be for a hard drive.

I will never understand why people love Gotek's so much when WHDLoad is available, but a quick google image search turns up tons of mods that can be done without cutting or modifying the faceplate of the floppy drive. See attached pictures (A500 and A1200, but should work on A1000 as well). Good luck! :)

Probably the most compelling reason I can think of as that many of the ADFs have trainers options that I don't see in my whdload versions.
Additionally whdload requires a RAM expansion beyond 4mb to run larger games. I have a minimig 1.1 with 3.5mb RAM and it fails to load some games due to the limited RAM.

Gotcha. I've never used a trainer or a MiniMig. Guess I'm not their target audience.

I have no plan to cut up anything. I do wish to put a regular square fdd in the place of the old one. I wonder if an A1200 style face would be good.

Nothing to do with the minimig or trainers..
the target audience for whdload have a 68010 (I think for kb reset?) and 8MB RAM.
Where as anyone with even 512k can use the Gotek.
I do see your point because I bought the HxC and never hooked it up because of whdload :)
I mention trainers because they seem to me more available on adf games and some of the flagship games (example SOB1) are too hard for us old people :)
