The 2MB ChipRAM SIMM in my 4000 is flaky. Anyone know of a good source for replacements? ISTR I could throw a 8MB in there as a viable replacement (of course only using 2MB,) which seems to stand up to scrutiny, but is it true?

Yes, and with 4 MB you get 1 MB.

Actually with 4MB SIMM you get full 2MB ChipRAM when you jumper J213 to 8M and J214 to 8M.

And to that end, I just dug up a thread from 2007 regarding the same thing, which I posted the final post!
Neat-o. Not sure if I have any 4MB SIMMs laying about but I know I have 8MBs a-plenty. Will definitely solve my problem and give me a stable system once again.

I bought a bunch (100 of them) 8MB simms for nothing to have as 2MB chipmemreplacements. (2MB! nothing more)
