I've seen this topic come up a few times, and I've taken a few steps down this road myself. I figured I'd throw this out there and see what other people are doing, and hopefully help me determine if I should just live with what I have.
Right now I have a PAL A1200 hooked up to my NTSC monitor through one of these:

It works, but it's very jittery. The best way I can describe it is the edges of text and solid lines have a wobble to them. It can be headache inducing if you look at it long enough.
I've also tried this:
Ambery VGA Scan Doubler (http://www.ambery.com/rgbcgatovgac.html)
And it just did not work well at all. Some modes were totally unsupported (BC Kid, for example, just did not work).
So, my question is, am I better off getting the Indivision AGA MK2CR and using that? Is there a better solution than than which wouldn't require amiga surgery? Or should I stick with what I have?

I have tried Benq 17" 702A lcd monitor this works ok for most pal modes with out the need for a flicker fixer. Interlaced modes flicker. I have also tried indivison AGA MKIIcr with mixed feelings this was used on a 19" HP lcd screen. I am now using a Samsung 933HD with a RGB to Scart lead this is the best solution I have found so far I can even use Pal Hires Interlaced with no flicker.
PS Indivison is a bit of a arse to get the screen modes setup right I never got mine to a point that I liked.
Samsung TV is plug and play which is how Amiga should be.

Indivisions don't require "surgery". Pop them in and connect to almost any modern display device. Easy peasy. ;)

I'd still have to pull out the floppy drive to route the cable, right?
Also, goldfish mentioned (and I've seen the same comment elsewhere) that configuration is not that easy. I'm willing to give it a shot though!

The only problem I had with my Indi AGA is most non-standard screen modes. They come configured for standard modes and resolutions, though you may not be happy with positioning on the screen.

Depends on how you route the cable. Some people just stick it straight out the back. Others remove the RF modulator and stick it there. IMHO on an A1200 this is the best solution. Even better if you can find one of those HDMI output connectors (attached picture, sorry, don't have time to grab a high res image).
Ymmv, I don't really consider moving the floppy drive to be "surgery". :lol:

My indivision also has graphic glitches on first turn on. Think this is a heat related issue as it clears once it has warmed up. If you don't need 1024 x 768 Higfx mode then I would spend the money on a nice TV and rgb to VGA lead instead. You will also need a fast CPU 030 or better for 1024 x 768 or it will be slow when using workbench.

You don't have to remove the RF modulator.

Of course you don't. However some people already have SCSI, USB, or another device in the knock-out port location under the floppy drive. And "In My Opinion" (TM), replacing the "functionally obsolete" RF output with something more modern provides the cleanest look. But do what you want, LOL. ;)

Neither putting in the indivision AGA (nor doing human surgery) is very hard, as long as you follow the instructions and don't have two left hands.
In regards to lag and quality the indivision AGA is probably your best choice
don't forget to wear gloves or an antistatic band :laugh1:

In regards to static, this year I decided I had tired of the static around my house and invested in a couple of humidifiers. The reduction in static has been a fantastic treat and I no longer have the constant worry of getting up from my chair and sitting back down and hearing the Spark of Imminent Doom as I touch something important.
Of course, it is not a complete exorcism of static but a massive reduction, thus vastly reducing the pucker factor of moving about my room.
