Hi all!
Total longshot here, but does anyone have an RCS X-Calibur laying around that they'd like to sell?! I'd love to buy one for my spare A3640.
Thanks!

Unless you're looking specifically for that, wouldn't one of the 060 adapters that are being built now give you better performance? Of course if you're not looking for it for the performance but to have that specific device ignore what I just said :)
-
I think the difference is the X-Calibur allows you to add ram to the accelerator which an A3640 + adapter/060 doesn't.
-
I've never even seen one in the wild. Did they ever even ship?

Yes they did ship and they've been on ebay every once in a while.
He probably wants one to go with his A3660, which I'm also curious if that works.

They definitely shipped. I've got a few.

If you're of a mind to sell one I'd love to buy it! :)
I'm interested to see if the local ram the x-calibur provides makes the a3640 into a competitive accelerator, especially with an 040-060 adapter attached.

I guess I ought to clarify that the ones I have are not for sale. I appreciate the interest that some have expressed but I'm not selling anything right now.

Understood, no problem! :)

How fast is memory access on those ? comparable to CS MKIII ?

I can but it will not be for a while since I am not at home while my wife is in the hospital and several months of rehab. I'll put it on my task list for when I get there.
Further clarification - all of the queries about selling have been very polite and such. I'm just trying to save people the time of writing and asking.

As I recall, a good bit slower. Partly because this is an 040 and partly because the speed of the SIMMs isn't as high. I've got 50ns or 60ns in the Cyberstorms and 70ns or 80ns in the X-Calbur. I don't know how the performance of the two memory controllers are so don't know how much it effects memory transfers.

Hi Chucky. How is the work on your card progressing? Need anyone to help beta testing? ;)

Not that this helps, but the author of the rcs xcalibur actually sold his a4000 a couple years ago on Canada ebay. Unfortunately i didnt have the money to buy it but i did email him and he told me the 4000 had the designs for the xcalibur on it sold along with Proboard amiga pcb software(which he claimed proboard author made a special gfx card compat. version for him) it was designed with. I tried to get him to release the designs, but he wouldn't.
I don't know who ended up with the A4000 but sadly its probably in someones closet.

Interesting that he used ProBoard to design the X-Calibur. I was wondering if any main stream Amiga hardware was ever designed using it. I designed EMPLANT using ProBoard on an A500.
