Has anyone seen an issue on A1200 when the mouse pointer goes AWOL? Both buttons work, pointer moves, but it's not there - or in other words invisible. Sometimes I see a pointer shadow as garbage artifact moving in a column on the left side - SOMETIMES - but mostly it's just missing..
So I assume it's something to do with drawing and updating the hw. sprite, as opposed to mouse control. Could swap out LISA thought first check in if someone has seen it and maybe some TTL component fault could cause this. The board is super clean (no corrosion).
This behavior is consistent, same in even early startup with nothing plugged in but video and mouse.
Driving me nuts..

Some knows better but once was a slightly broken cord, another time just software.
Tried with the Tac-2 to see if not another mouse to test. Just circle around..
Edit: Re-read, really that could be fustrating. Could just try another miga criss cross Sorry no idea if not in connection.

Thanks but can't be software as it's the same with early boot (both button held down), and tried with other mouse already - but can't be that as I said the (invisible) pointer moves and it's possible to click on things.

A virus or a crashed program can cause this, not in early startup though :-/

Thanks I've seen that already, but his problem is different. He has no mouse movement. As I said in this case the mouse WORKS (possible to move and click with both left and right button) BUT there is NO pointer shown, or sometimes some ghost artifacts on left side.

Weird. Hopfully somebody knows. Earthing and pressing the chips..
Really with a different mouse the same?
Have some Petro's A1200's and a spare mb so curious and a few mice to test.
So the cable yanking does not help. Just keeping the thread so someone knows better.

bad solder on agnus(alice?) possibly? ram ok?

If and maybe not a long of experience the only advice as an idiot is just test if possible in another mb, another mouse/joystick. Soldering chips go too far away here.
Usually powered all off and re-inserted any extra stuff. Earthing, pressing the chips like Kickstart?...
Yes Hopefully can try with a friend. Helps a lot.

Swap out the ROM's with some known good ones, remove all expansions, run every mem test program you can find on Aminet. May be bad ram, hopefully nothing more serious than that. Good luck!

What motherboard version do you have?

I have the same problem on an old A4000d. Started with the timer clock on the pointer melting and vanishing as I hovered over various characters on screen. Trouble is I have so much problem with this 4000 with badly seated memory simms I just have to replace the motherboard. The mobo is shot and needs replacing. No help... just that I would be replacing the motherboard on the 1200 with so little seated.
Have you checked continuity across all your tracks
Bit of nonsense... Playing certain games like Balance of Power designed for the 1000 on the A1200 renders the pointer invisible. Just a thought but use a degrader and run the 1200 in 1.3 mode and see if the pointer is there. Also disable CPU caches on boot and see if that helps. Just try anything ... seriously. Not kicking the thing... that would be bad.
