Post by: ryan2k1 on March 08, 2004, 07:31:09 PM
Hello there!

How do i set a MAC for my net-card in genesis?!
My router needs it, to make the samba network work :bigcry:

Genesis:bin/ifconfig

..will list your network card's MAC address.

It lists the MAC address.

For instance:

eth0: flags=8003 MTU=1500
        inet 192.168.2.16 netmask FFFFFF00 broadcast 192.168.2.255
        Hardware type: Other, address: 0:9:1c:63:341:5c

Where 0:9:1c:63:341:5c is the MAC.

Go to your router, and set an IP address for your computer using this address (usually without the :). Then you'll have the same IP whenever you connect to your router, and you can use Samba.

Yeah!
I have done that already and it works with miami, i'm thinking that it may be something about DHCP, my router is not that great.

But thanks for the reply's

AFAIK Genesis' DHCP implementation is non-functional.
