Title: Recapping old Amigas
Post by: toples50 on February 04, 2018, 04:10:44 PM
I know that the A600 and A1200 needs recapping. But what about the A1000?
Is it necessary or not?

The 1000 is older than any other. My 2000 is scheduled for a recap even so it's a good idea, at least it wont hurt.

A politician's answer there!

A quick Google shows very little info an recapping an A1000.  The 600,1200 and 4000 haves surface mounted caps that cause problems whereas 1000 doesn't.  Probably no harm in getting them done but not sure it's necessary.

Caps do dry out and have a "best before date"
they will not often leak like the 600/1200/4000/cd32 ones.  but might perform bad after a time

That sounds like good advice!

The next debate will be type of cap...
