Title: Hmm, I don't know, What do you guys think? A500 T5 Plus
Post by: giZmo350 on January 29, 2018, 07:28:30 PM
Think it's worth the cash and wait? $565.00 USD + shipping

I prefer my wedge...  :)

Is that the same guy that makes the custom A1200 tower systems?

They could've at least done the 1MB chip ram mod.  512K chip is useless in an expanded system.  ;)

I'd like to see a small Zorro back-plane at the bottom into which the 500 mobo is sat.   Might as well make full use of the case while we're at it.

Yea, and the specs are all over the place in different parts of the listing.

What? No Warranty? Shocker.....

I'd definitely stick with my wedge!
To me it wouldn't feel like I was using a miggy otherwise...

Well it looks cool...
If I had money to burn, then I might consider it.

Never used an A1000, A2000, A3000/T or A4000/T then?

Not back in the day I didn't so I enjoy the nostalgia kick of the old form factor, I remember drooling over the big box Amigas in the local computer shop but they were well out of the price range for a school kid with a weekend job! lol

I don't think its a rip-off or anything. I remember A1200 cases without bussboards, keyboard interfaces or anything except maybe a PS were over 200$ back in the mid to late 90s. This is an entire working computer almost :) yeah that 512k chip RAM is going to not be so much fun..

Totally respect what they are doing, like it, think its cool, and would not be surprised if the build quality was totally fantastic, but not for me...

Thats just me.  Jan in Norway apparently loves these things. Perhaps you should snap it up before she does!

No, but you could buy the parts cheaper and have fun putting it together.

You're paying for them to have the fun for you.

I'd rather have the fun and pleasure to build something like that myself.

It looks decent, and it looks like the seller has actually put some elbow grease into this machine.

looks ultra modern but I much prefer my 'old school' towers without the blinking lights and of course a Powered by Amiga logo:hammer:

@ trekiej/ gunni

thanks guys my mancave is constantly changing depending on my never ending Amiga/64 projects (added my A4000 recently) but my point is this new case, although nice, is not something I would personally put into my mancave but to each his own

I love the A1000 poster: 'Creative Impulse'! Where did you get it? Are they still available? The man cave is pretty cool too!

@ BozzerBigD

thanks, I first saw the poster in a Commodore dealer shop called Comspec back in 1984 in my hometown when I was in grade 9 and I had been looking for the same one for years &  years until I accidentally found the one that's in my mancave now in an old computer shop in Oshawa, Ontario while my son and I were there for a hockey tournament! I was hoping to get it on the cheap but the owner of the shop was a long time Amiga user and knew a great condition one with frame and all were very very hard to come by so after quite a long talk about the Amiga days and current Amiga stuff we ended up making a deal..I haven't seen another one since unfortunately
