I made a cable like this to connect an internal floppy drive to the A2000's external port but it didn't work

Don't you need to do some funky stuff for the drive id so that the disk is detected?

Yes.

Would you explain more?

Well that is where he got the cable from.
As long as RDY stays high, then the drive id might just work out on it's own.
But it really depends on what drive it is, how it's jumpered etc.
The cable is designed for hooking up to ians' pc drive adaptor board.

I have many converted PC floppy drives for my A2000 (DS0/DS1) that are working as internal without any problem.
I wish to have two more as external drive to reach four to use all in XCopy.

Ah, then it's not possible without having that circuit? I thought this cable is enough:

People still use XCopy in 2018? Way to keep it old-school, buddy. :hammer:

cool, but I don't think you gain speed with more drives, it still copies track by track.

Can't you enable writing multiple drives at once? obviously verifying has to be done sequentially.

No, you will need additional circuitry for an external drive.
