Advice please: A1200 1D.4 Motherboard Fixes.
One of my friends has an A1200 that's been sat in a box awaiting me to collect it for some time, yesterday I asked him to give the motherboard a once over.
So he very kindly burst the factory warranty seals, opened it up and had a good look at it.
Motherboard is rev 1D.4 and looks extremely clean, so clean I believe it's never had an expansion card fitted.
My thought is to do a recap first before switching it on, but is it worth testing it first?
Also on that note do Amiga PSUs every require any component replacement to keep them in good health?
Also, it's been a long while since I've been around Amigas.
I see a lot has happened.
Any advice or suggestions for quick easy mods also appreciated, I have had a gander at aminet and a few other places, but see there's a ton of other stuff elsewhere too.

Ian Steadman has written most of what you need to know regarding the standard modifications:
http://www.ianstedman.co.uk/Amiga/amiga_hacks/A1200_Mobo_fix/a1200_mobo_fix.html
Generally, you'll only need to apply certain modifications to fix compatibility with certain expansions.
Yes, you should replace the electrolytic capacitors in it. And yes, you should always test it first before you mess around with it in any way.
The power supply is subject to the same ageing as everything else, so unless you've kept it in your DeLorean for the last 25 years, you might like to replace the components that suffer age related problems. i.e. replace the electrolytics in that too.

Cheers! - I should've said I've already checked out Ian Steadman's site :-)
- but then I just this second found another one attributed to him that's more recent thant the one I previously found and has further info!
(that other set of pages I found attributed to Ian had relatively old timestamps - a number of years ago - and as I'd lost touch with the Amiga Scene over the last decade or so, I wasn't sure if there had been more recent info, Aminet only has so much!)
I know some people would suggest searching this forum / the web...
but I keep getting distracted by all the cool stuff people have been doing over the years. Well, distracted is an understatement. A bit gobsmacked tbh.
Wish I had a red A500 motherboard now....
and perhaps a red A1200 one when/if that happens!...
in a transparent case would be awesome....
Would love to know where the previous ones I owned have ended up...
Anyway, I am amazed and pleased by how things are still being developed etc, it's awesome!
Long may it continue!
- and thankyou for confirming I pretty much have the info I need, think I will pay a pro to do the recap. Might need to get G4 QuickSilver Macintrash done at the same time if I find someone willing...
Thanks again!

And the X2 filter capacitors (especially if they're the yellow type) :)

Thanks for the heads up!
