Hi,
the manual says:
"Button can be set to any button function by rotating the button function selector to the desired position.
Forward Movement
Normal Button
Turbo Fire
Backward Movement.
Fw. and Bw. Movement button functions are convenient for games which make you ... move faster ... e.g. some driving games .... "
etc.
Hope this helps.

So there is a four different positions for every selector? I thought three.

One joustick doesn't work for left/right. I ques cable problem.
Another doesn't work for up/down, but I can use buttons to get up/down. So not a cable problem.

Yes, there are four positions. In the limited edition transparent version you can clearly see four notches.
