I have fond memories of some previous Amiga Christmas presents, back in the 90s: a 250 meg hard drive for my 1200, a Zappo CD-ROM drive (barely worked), a CD32.
But did any of you receive any exciting Amiga goodies today? Would love to hear what Santa/Father Christmas brought you!
-
Didn't receive it but did just order an Amiga X5000 for myself. I'm very excited to be able to run Amiga OS 4 on real hardware.
-
Got my left-handed girlfriend a left-handed version of the Arcade Evolution joystick. She loves playing ElfMania. :)

No clue. After exchanging a few emails asking for tracking numbers I gave up wondering if it would ever arrive and decided to just spend my time bitching about it in forums, instead --- Like a good Amiga user.
:laughing::laughing:
Figure if I ever want to read it I'll just buy a copy from amazon, like all the sensible folks did. ;)

I got my copy Christmas morning, my wife is a prime power user. Mike you want her to get you a copy?
-
BigRamPlus and X-Surf-100 for A4000. But still fighting to get X-surf up and running with AmiTCP.

I started collecting stuff a couple of month ago for an A2000 & 4000T rebuild. 2 new spare floppy drives, 2 Elbox CF adapters, An Elbox FastATA 4000 MK-VII CF/SATA, 2 sets of 3.X ROMs w/new OS 3.1 Disks and the latest item is a XSurf100 card.

2 sets of 3.X ROMs w/new OS 3.1 Disks....
NICE! Did you get the Cloanto ROMs & Disks or did you get the real deal? If you got the Cloanto stuff let us know if you have any trouble... (remember, workbench.library is no longer in the Cloanto ROM, it's on the Cloanto disk - at least for the A2000 - not sure about the A4000T).

Cloanto ones, the 4000T never had workbench.library on board anyway.

I decided to come back to life my old CDTV. And I've got it before time. About 3 hours before 2018. :)

One of my Christmas presents to myself this year was an Amiga 500, which currently isn't working but at least only cost me $60USD shipped.
-
I upgraded my 3640/25 with a 060/50 processor. Simple upgrade and booted right away.. However, it froze a lot at first and I was finally able to install mmulib and it seems stable.
I got my plipbox running and loaded IBrowse and it worked much better, but since I lost my VA2000, I'm running overscanned 640x480 (700 something by 500 something iirc) through a 8220. It "works" but amiga.org didn't look that great... the site is too wide. I switched to mobile view of the site and it helps, but I think I really need a higher resolution but I think I'm at the limits of ECS.

Try the proxy version of the site.

I got Commodore the Amiga Years Book. I have to shake my head every time I read a bit. Shocking

I didn't even know that it existed. Thanks. I'm actually using it to type this response from the A3000.

Hey what do you mean by this? If I install the cloanto 3.1 rom in my a2k and install wb with commodore disks it wont work?

To answer your question as stated, correct, it won't work. Workbench.library must be loaded at startup with the Cloanto ROM. You don't have to buy the Cloanto disks as you can load workbench.library in StartupSequence.
The real problem however is, not many folks know this and users are inevitably going to mix old ROM & Cloanto disks and vice-versa. There's some users not to happy about this.
Do some googling... you'll see.
Not to mention, try to find an original A500/2000 3.1 ROM...ANYWHERE!
I need one and it seems impossible. You'd have to get a burned one somewhere. Of course, you caould always load a ROM image at startup too. But what a fiasco! :(
-
@magnetic,
3.x ROM's don't have "workbench.library" on board. Must use A4000T install disks so they they are on HD boot drive.

3.X Rom's, meaning this product specifically...

An Older AO discussion.... (to possibly get workbench.library)

And read this as there may be some dependency problems using a new workbench.library.

where did you get the plipbox?
Oh and I forgot to be OT I got a present for my A2000 for Christmas a nice rom switcher hand built by some guy in Spain. (They are very hard to find nowadays took me months since Amiga kit ran out of stock last year)
-
I actually came across a great find on Christmas week.
A nice guy on a Facebook trading page had a 1200, 2 monitors and like...400 or so floppy disk and a mouse for 250 USD.
I've never owned an actual Amiga so I was hyped. He has a podcast called Amigos so that's neat.
I just need a desk for it now. :p
