Please excuse me as a returnee after 30 years but I am stumped
Just installed 3.1 on my A2000 which has a A2091 and HD with an Apollo A2030 and 32 meg of RAM.
My question is where is Showconfig in the Tools drawer ?
I have read and heard of the greatness of this tool but it is missing from my install and I can't find it in the Extras tool drawer.

Showconfig? What do you want that garbage for?
IMHO if you just want a tool that can report on all the internals of your Amiga, the latest version of SysInfo is probably the most ubiquitous tool on the platform:
https://sysinfo.d0.se/
(although take its speed test results with a grain of salt, especially if you have an '060)
Others tools like Scout, SysSpeed, WhichAmiga, ShowBoards/ShowBoards MUI, etc., are available on sites like Aminet.

The normal location of ShowConfig on the Workbench 3.1 installation floppies is in the Tools/ drawer on the Extras3.1: floppy.
Did you install from floppies/disk images? Maybe you have some non-standard disk set, or the copy operation failed somehow.

Huh, garbage?
It's not garbage, it shows actual, factual and useful information, especially with the debug option, as text output, that can be pasted into mail etc.

Another nice tool is WhichAmiga, found on Aminet: http://aminet.net/package/util/moni/WhichAmiga

Hi
I installed from floppies which appear to be genuine originals.
Searching the actual Extras disc itself does not have Showconfig in the Tools drawer
Thanks

What i can find is that it should be somewhere around here.. Sys:Tools/ShowConfig

Here you go (attached). Stick it in SYS:Tools.
As mentioned above, there's better tools (assuming you just want to view the hardware specs of your system), but to each there own. ;)

Thank you all for the help and advice
