I have a 2Gb Jaz drive that works fine with my A4000 desktop, but is not recognized at
all by my A4000T.
Both have the Squirrel Zip/Jaz tools installed, and the A4000D has device name cybscsi.device and the A4000T has omniscsi.device (because I have a GVP 4008 SCSI card installed.
Anyone have any ideas what's wrong?

Without further information, hardly. What is the SCSI unit of the Jaz? What happens if you download "SCSIQuery" from the aminet and run it as follows:
SCSIQuery DEVICE=omniscsi.device UNIT=6
assuming that the Jaz is at scsi ID #6. Is the SCSI chain terminated correctly? That is, exactly once at each end?
-
Why aren't you using the native scsi on the motherboard of the 4000T?
-
It's a Mediator A4000T, converted from an A4000 desktop

the SCSI ID is 4, as the Tools suggest.
I can't connect to the Internet here because it's all wi-fi,
and getting Amiga files to any of my Amigas is problematical:
I have to download it with my Mac laptop onto a USB drive,
connect the USB drive to my 19-year old (!) Powerbook and
hope it still works, and move it to a Mac floppy there, then
insert the Mac floppy in the Amiga.

@garyg
It's a bit confusing it to call it an A4000T then isn't it? A towered A4000 might have been a better description.

Sounds unnecessarily complicated. When I want to transfer files from my PC to my A500 at home I just burn them onto a CD (using the built-in Windows CD burning tools) and sneakernet it over to my Miggy. All those SCSI devices you have on your 4000T and not one CD drive? ;)

I "sneaker netted" SCSIQuery to the Mediator 4000T via USB and a Mac-formatted floppy, and it told me that UNIT 4 wasn't mounted, even though Squirrel/Jaz Tools said it was (it's in WBStartup). Perhaps it was because I failed to turn on the Jaz drive before booting.
Anyway, i discovered that the SCSI card had a GuruROM with its own utilities, but it didn't find anything either except that all the HD partitions (there are 4!) have "scsi.device", so it appears they're connected to IDE header, right?
