Hi
A little challenge for you which in truth if you know an easy way I would love to know. I sift through various Amiga mice in the hope of discovering the Holy Grail of mice.. the 1351 for the C64. I have yet to discover one distinguishable aspect that sets them apart other than trying them. See if you can tell the difference.

It's sometimes labeled with the 1351 name and has a short plug!
-
strange (just checked mine) and actually all the C64 mice I've seen (at least in my town) back in the GEOS days all have "model 1351" printed on top of the commodore logo on the bottom...other than that they are identical to the Amiga mouse

You could always try and source a NEOS MS-30

Works a charm and saves me using the 1351

The housing is ientical, but the electronics are not.

Thanks, I didn't know about NEOS.
BTW, what's the difference between a 1351 and 1350?

To quote the mighty Zimmer who basically has the greatest collection like ever ...

Commodore 1350 Mouse
The Commodore 1350 is a mouse in only the most deceptive sense of the word. It is shaped like a mouse. It rolls around on a little pad like a mouse. It has a little rubber ball with sensors watching it, just like a mouse. Functionally, however, it is a directional joystick. All software which understands joysticks can be used with the 1350, for it is directional in nature.
Model : 1350
Type : Directional Mouse
Connection: CBM Joystick/Mouse port
Model : 1351
Type : Proportional & Directional Mouse
Connection: CBM Joystick/Mouse port
The 1352 and the unnamed Amiga mice are not very different in appearance, feel, or functionality from the 1351, except that their interface is adapted to the more standard Amiga/CBM PC clone ports. These mice first appeared with later Amiga 500/2000 computers as a substitution for the thick and (for the A1000) angled connectors. The "trap doors" on the bottom of the mice for ball removal also changed between the "slide door" type and the "rotate door" types.
Also known as ....
Model : 313254-01
Type : Proportional Mouse
Connection: Amiga Mouse port/bus mouse

I have read that the NEOS has a 1350 inside but don't quote me on it.

I wonder if there will be an optical replacement for that mouse :D

I have both mouses. Several Amiga "Tank" mouses and the Commodore 1350 mouse.
Another difference between Amiga "tank" mouse and the Commodore 1350 its the weight. The Commodore 1350 is lightweight than the Amiga "Tank" mouse.

Never knew the c64 had a mouse! Off topic: Enjoying your diaries scuzz, nice reading. Just looking through your HX-10 entry, I still have mine, was our first computer, dad brought home way back when, 87 I think it was. It's boxed in the my old loft for a very long time, someday over the hols I will bring her out again for a clean down and reboot & load up a few carts, hopefully she will work ;) great machine for it's day.

Can anyone with the 1350 (joystick emulator mouse) comment on how well it works?
I think I have one in the garage, and have never used it (no C64 set up at the moment).
Is it useless / awful (like it sounds), or is it really not that noticeably different in feel from a real (proportional movement) mouse?

OK This is getting real interesting... I found another GEOS controller. This time it is the Suncom Icontroller or Troller . Works just fine. Both the NEOS and the Suncom do the job just wonderfully for GEOS. Just happy I don't need to use the 1351.
Here is the latest diary update for the Suncom.
