Thanks!
While I did get one of the 8200s with a lot of problems, in general I have had good results from Gonbes. The 8220s for ~$5 are worth stocking up.
-
I got one just to try it out. For $5 with free shipping you cant go wrong.

+1, & honestly how the heck can north american companies compete with this :insane: In Canada now they want to raise the minimum wage yet again so this $5 with free shipping product from China will cost 10 times that + shipping ! I know health & safety, taxes, insurance, crazy unions etc. but it's a global market and competition will dictate who will survive all that aside.
-
Grabbed two. No immediate need for them, but at that price...!

That's why we need trade agreements. Most companies in the west aren't playing on a even field. They are forced to comply and actually pay good wages but not for others.

yes they are forced to comply, pay good wages then they in turn must increase their prices and in doing so are no longer competitive..thats the Catch 22 !

The sale title says 'GBS-8220' but if you look at the pictures, you'll see on the PCB 'GBS-8200 V4.0'.
Isn't the 8200 an older model?
-
The 8220 is a dual-output board, the 8200 is single. For my purposes, and for $5.98, it doesn't really matter to me.
-
Thats a pretty good offer. I dont like the lag it has and the artefact generated around moving objects. Has anyone connected his Amiga to a projector which can display native 15 khz screens?

Interesting. I had not noticed that problem. I will have to check that out.
My projector has S-Video and composite inputs, so it is possible it will sync down to 15kHz but I have never tried. Probably because I also do not have a DB23 to DB15 adapter to try. Bummer.
-
it looks like a scam.
-
Possibly. My two have been updated as shipped, they are expected to be delivered 12th Dec. Lets see.
Any issues then it is all through eBay and PayPal so I am not too concerned.

Same, mine shipped according to ebay. If they dont come I just file a claim and get the $5 back.
-
So I've been pretty patient, just wondering if anyone's gotten theirs yet.
Ebay says:
Estimated delivery Mon, Nov 20 - Fri, Dec 22
This item has been shipped.
In the internet age, a month seems like forever. 8-)
-
Nope. I'll wait until the 23rd and get eBay to refund me.
-
Not a sign of mine yet.

nothing here either but I don't mind waiting unless there's a time limit to get money back ??

If you don't receive it from the seller you can file a claim against him and eBay will investigate.
If I click on the "I didn't receive it" not and I get this:
"It looks like your item is on its way and should arrive by Dec 22, 2017. If you don’t receive it by then, please contact the seller or come back to us so we can help you."
-
I tried to buy one of these twice. The first time my order was refunded due to it being "broken" in the warehouse. Second time, no response.
-
Yeah, I noticed it's been relisted something like every other day, as well, up to about a couple of weeks ago.
I'm disappointed that it might be a scam. Well, if something seems too good to be true...
-
Submitted my demand for refund today.
"If you don't hear back by Jan. 2, or if there's a problem, you can ask us to step in and help on that day."
Bummer. Ah, well. I'll be able to put that $24 to other uses :)
-
Today from eBay:
"Unfortunately, we didn't receive valid tracking information from the seller. We're sorry you had a problem with your purchase.
We issued you a full refund of US $23.92 on Jan 2, 2018 to your PayPal account. The refund includes the purchase price plus original shipping."
-
No sign of mine yet either. Will wait till end of the week before filing a claim.
-
The feedback profile on this seller is pretty bad.
Glad I didn't order.
-
Considering comparable boards are around $20 to $25 USD, I'd skip the shady $5 one and go for one of the others.
Here's some more information:

And here:
https://ianstedman.wordpress.com/gbs-82xx-experiments/ (https://ianstedman.wordpress.com/gbs-82xx-experiments/)
The second link is interesting. It says that by replacing a single capacitor (on the V4 8200) and adding a 680 ohm resistor, you'll have a pretty good scandoubler for the Amiga. Not bad!
Now if I could just find a good way to connect a sync-on-green output from a VAXstation to a modern monitor, I'd be happy :)
-
Nice on that second link, thank you!
Good bit from that article:
"The GBS-8200 board drew a maximum of 0.4A"
Means it can be USB powered from a good USB power source. :)

I think people sometimes have power supplies that don't put out enough power, but I think more often people have cables which are too long, too thin, or both, so even when something's connected to a 1 or 2 amp power source, the device still doesn't get the voltage it expects.
Some complaints about power may be related to the capacitor that's recommended to be swapped.

How many volts does this need again? Tried.to.start mine and.didnt.work

Five.
-
Big problem with USB power sources is even at 400mA some will drop voltage. I have seen ones rated for 5V 1A which go down to 3.75V at 700mA.
I have a few well-built ones which will provide 5.01V or better at 1500mA draw. I use these for power sources, with appropriate barrel connectors, for various things around: Sega Genesis HD, CF7+ and nanoPEB (TI,) Atari 130XE, etc.

I looked at ebay today and saw that geraldet55 is no longer a registered user.
User ID geraldet55 (https://www.ebay.com/usr/geraldet55) (Feedback score -6 (http://feedback.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewFeedback2&userid=geraldet55&ftab=AllFeedback&myworld=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2050430.m2531.l4585))
No longer a registered user
so that did it, I sent ebay a customer service "didn't receive an item" and got a reply within about 2 minutes.
eBay Customer Support made a final decision on your case(http://p.ebaystatic.com/aw/pics/globalAssets/rtCurve.gif)
(http://q.ebaystatic.com/aw/pics/s.gif)Good news! We issued you a full refund.
I sent him a message near the end of december and got this:

Clearly a scam attempt. I also never got the pair I ordered. I was refunded the other day as well.
-
Damn shame but a risk worth taking, IMHO :)
-
Also got a refund
-
refund here too
-
almost forgot I ordered a few of these when first came out...put in my support ticket yesterday after seeing this thread and got refund today...must admit though that this is a rare occurrence for me on EBay so far
