I counted approximately 21 A2000's, 3 A1000, maybe 1 A500, 7 monitors and tons of software and accessories.. What was this guy doing with them??

Not Holy Grail - Holy Sheet. 20K?? He is crazy.

Some hoarder probably died. At least the stuff didn't immediately get tossed in the trash by an uncaring family or estate. :(
-
His therapist is helping him with his hoarding compulsion.
How about just piece out as needed to whoever wants to buy.
I need a 2000 motherboard buddy.
-
One of Amiga.org users is retiring ;). Look at this GAMES collection!
-
Woah! It reminds me of when my local Amiga store went out of business. He put the whole lot up on eBay. That was a sad day. But like Mike said, thankfully these aren't being trashed.
-
That's less than 50 miles from me. All I need is a couple of keyboards though.
-
I'll be about 100 miles from him this weekend... but $20k? That's an investment I'd likely never see again, not to mention transport. Or maybe that TV show about retro computers could buy up a bunch (then bin them after the episode.)
I hope this all goes to someone who can appreciate it. I wouldn't mind the games -- that's a load of WHDLoad fodder right there.

I've got a full ECS Rev 4.4 that I went over and was going to sell here soon. I jest you a PM as well ;)
-
He might have been able to pick up a bunch of the machines from a school or college. The one college I went to had two class rooms full of Amiga 2000s when I went there for animation. Think they sold them as a one big lot.
-
Again with monitors and keyboards stacked on top of each other and boxes being crushed. Always pains me to see such sights. sigh
Looks like sumguy got kicked out of his own house. Wifey had enough of his hobby!
-
It was a storage locker find. I suggested to him he post on ebay and amibay to see if someone with the cash would pay for it (warned him of the battery corrosion issue). Also suggested to him that he probably would have to break it up. I wish I lived nearby, I'd love to go see it.
-
It always astonishes me that someone could have a collection like that, and *not* be active or known in the forums. I guess they must've really been some kind of recluse. Also, +1 for the batteries probably being toast. :(
-
I hope he's open to offers. There's likely a good percentage which is not damaged beyond recovery and it would be a shame to see all this go into the skip.
That said, I have found that far too many times I can't GIVE shyt away just for the price of shipping... sadly, I have thrown a good bit of Amiga and Commodore equipment into recycle :(
More sadly, I've come to regret throwing out my old Commodore/Amiga CRT monitors. I couldn't get anyone to take them and I couldn't keep moving them around anymore.
-
That Fate of Atlantis box looks mint so that must be worth £30+ on its own! Shame it is not going to be seperated up as I have friends in Indiana.:-(
-

That's understandable, not everyone wants the attention.
I know a few heavy collectors that never advertise what they have or any details that would help find who they are...

Yeah, I get wanting to remain unknown, if only to keep people from showing up on your doorstep (I don't want visitors, really,) especially as someone who is not involved in social media, you won't find me on any of the locator lists, etc. Though, I'm sure I have spilled enough info here on AO for someone to put together a fairly good guess :)
I find the big shame to be not so much the equipment but the knowledge which is held separate. Honestly, while none of us have a requirement or responsibility to share knowledge with each other, I bet there is a lot of untapped knowledge and experience out there.

Exactly.

He just listed on Amibay for $19,000
Mostly untested is a risk. Last month I was given quite a bit, Amiga 2000, 4000, and a 500. That and tons of software, manuals, cd drives, video toasters, accelerators sound samplers. And three crt monitors. Except for Amiga 4000 and 500 most is junk or just not worth fixing.

Don't count out that not happening. I suspect he will either part it out because no one takes the lot or, if someone does, they will part it out. Really.. who needs 21 Amiga 2000s???

Lol..just teazin it ain’t me, ha. But makes you wonder how he got all that stuff. Maybe worked for a college back in the day and rescued the stuff from being thrown away??
-
Someone close should offer half for the lot and piece it out. Should make some bucks but will be some work. Imagine all those games and machines back in use.
-
Not even worth a quater of that. A good part of those won%&$#?@!%&$#?@!%&$#?@!8217;t work I bet.
-
Hmmm... i live about 3 and a half hours from him. I can barely afford to fed to myself though, so i won't be buying anything anytime soon.
-
Those who live close talk him to you folks "having a close look at them", and piece them out for him. Put it up here and can fight over it.
PS: There is a Whole Lot of software and Zorro stuff.

Seriously, don't sell to the bot.
:P

Naah.. only small minority of collectors are on this kind of forums. I know many collectors (some with pretty impressive collections) and "normal" users in my city too, but I'm the only one writing on forums.
-
Somebody over on one of the Amiga Facebook pages made the witty comment that with all the A2000's, maybe this is DoomMaster's collection?
-
If the guy was a collector, which I doubt from the state of the 2000s, I assume he didn't keep the good stuff in the lock-up and must have kept it for himself.
So what happened to the 1200s in the Magic Pack and the Desktop Dynamite pack. And if someone is talking to the guy can you direct him at least to try and find the A1000's keyboards and slot them under the machines before they get lost. That's if they are there.

Why is everyone speculating on how he got this. Madgrizzle posted this on the first page.

"It was a storage locker." --- Yeah, Doomy's storage locker.:laughing::laughing:

And just how did it wind up in a storage locker to be found? hrmmmmmmm THAT'S the 64-million dollar question the answer for which we are trawling. And producing worthwhile fiction while we're at it!
-
The plot thickens.....

:P
I agree..I really don’t ‘need’ any more Amiga machines..
-

LOL except it would be $8,000 for the lot since all the A2000's would be mil spec :rtfm::crazy:

yup that statement sounds mighty familiar ;)

Apparently the guy just bought stuff of eBay and stored it away. There was plenty more items in unopened shipping packages that were not related to Amiga. The (now) owner said it appeared to be almost an addiction. Maybe he had a fondness for them and was compelled to spend money on them (he says as he looks in a mirror).

Could be like me grandmum... she's been buying shyt from QVC for the past 20 years and sticking it right upstairs. To be fair, she does give a lot of nice gifts from them, as well, but, good Lord, to go upstairs is scary. I doubt the foundation can hold the weight much longer.

I don't see the South Bend listing, says it closed.
Did he sell his whole lot?

Didn't he also list it on Amibay?
My .02 cents, either some nutjob came along and gave him an offer within his price range, or we'll start seeing a lot of these end up on fleabay soon.
-
He took it down on Amibay, possibly by moderators admonition.
-
I would wonder if he even wanted to sell it. I bet he told the wife, "I listed it but no one would come get it"

While this would appear to be a smart move, I refer all to the W.O.P.R. (Joshua):

He said he had no takers and he'll be breaking it up and posting it to eBay. He seems a reasonable enough fellow so I don't expect price gouging. If something is too high, its probably because he didn't have a good reference point for pricing it.

Have you talked with this fellow? You guys friends?
-
I think it was LoadWB that might have been within a 100 miles of this guys location last weekend.... I'm within a 100 miles of this guy too.... (we shoulda hooked up in Goshen for a brewski Load!) All that stuff looked less than stellar to me. If he wanted $2000.00 for all of it I would have pursued it... 20K? Naw.
-

Just email. When I saw it up on craigslist I sent him an email suggesting he 'expand' his efforts to amibay and consider ebay. Also suggested that if he needed help in figuring out what he has, he could post here to try to find someone relatively nearby. I sense he knows something about Amigas but I'm not presumptuous enough to ask him directly how much he knows. I've emailed him several times to ask questions based upon the posts I read here and he's always responded.

He's parting out the A2000 and A2500s.. see:
