Title: Hit the limit of Toolsdaemon
Post by: rvo_nl on October 08, 2017, 06:03:42 PM
Hey all. I use Toolsdaemon quite extensively and have my Workbench set up with a few extra menu's with lots of subitems and submenu's underneath. Right now I seem to have hit the limit and newly added items no longer show up! My Toolsdaemon config file is around 500kb.

I did check to see if this was related to the items themselves, but that is not the case. I've also tried various versions of the Toolsdaemon binary aswell as the handler. Also I've tried increasing the stack size.

Is there a worthy alternative to Toolsdaemon or is there a way to extend the number of items that can be displayed? Please do not point me to T.H.E. because it lacks the user friendliness I am after. Isnt there a way to extend the menu's from OS3.9 itself?

if anyone cares (hi google) I did notice 2 things:

1) the old toolsdaemon handler and toolsdaemon executable are a lot faster than the newer, patched versions (and I couldnt see any benefit of those either)

2) the limit is in the amount of menu items, not total items

by splitting up the menu in A-M and N-Z I managed to solve my problem. Not very pretty, but good enough for me.
