Title: Looking For Amiga 4000
Post by: Retromania on October 03, 2017, 02:03:17 PM
I am looking for a really nice, preferably non-yellowed A4000, in original box, with keyboard, mouse, manuals and usual disks (Workbench etc). Don't mind if it is 030 or 040. Preferably with old style battery removed but as long as no corrosion then no problem.

Anyone got such a beast and looking to sell? I have cash waiting for the right machine.

Thanks in anticipation

That'll cost you some coin, assuming you can find one.  My guess is at least $1,000 USD.

Yeah, I know.  My own fault for selling a perfect one I had years ago for legit reasons at the time.  But I have the cash now so looking for something extra nice!

It's insane the inflation on this stuff! $500 would have done it in 2008 I recon!

I'd consider selling one of mine but just can't bother with packing, taxes, etc...
besides its packed with expansions.
I assume you're from USA?
have you checked amibay?

I did have one back in 2005 and had to raise funds a couple of years later so had to sell it. Bug mistake! No, huge mistake. But needs must at the time.

I'm just hoping someone out there has one they want to sell :-)

Hi, yes, original desktop version. Thanks though, would have been ideal as you live near Brighton-I'm in Saltdean.

What Tower is it out of curiosity?

Nah, I couldn't rip off a fellow Amigan.  The thing's in sorry shape, I keep it around more out of stubbornness.

Two years back I got a slightly yellowed A4000/030, with Cyberstorm 040 with 128MB RAM, Indivision AGA MK2, A4000 keyboard, no mouse, no original box, no manuals, no original disks, battery removed, very slight battery damage, everything works, for a little under AUD $500. Not the going price for this kind of unit, but the seller was unwilling to ship and offered Local Pickup Only. Luckily, I was a local.

I have a feeling the original box, no yellowing, manuals and disks would have added another $500. And if it were open to non-local buyers then I'd be competing with people prepared to spend double.

I know a lot of people praise the A3000 for its built in SCSI and Scan-doubler. But in my view, the A4000 is the second finest computer Commodore had ever produced and sold. The A1200 being the finest.

Well said! I agree with you but My top 3 would also include the 1000. I have a soft spot for it and design-wise I think it is probably the best looking Amiga!

I think I may have sourced an Amiga 4000 but need a keyboard.

Anyone want to sell a UK A4000 keyboard? Looking for a working, non-yellowed, nice and clean example.

Thanks

I got all my A4000%&$#?@!%&$#?@!%&$#?@!8217;s for free! :)  Though non of them have the orig box.  I guess you would pay 1,200+ for a mint in box, battery removed example.  And for that you will have to be patient.
