Title: E/Box tower - LED problem
Post by: kreciu on September 26, 2017, 10:40:53 PM
I have a very strange issue. I have old E/Box tower I almost restored to "normal". However, LED for this tower got "little" tangled and I have no idea how to connect wires. This is how it looks like. I asked Elbox to help me but, they told me they don't have any information about it anymore.

I really would like to have LED in my case :).

What is it? 2 LED's or 1? What does it indicate? What if any connectors are attached and what's on the board?

This is three LED "panel" from Ebox tower, connects somehow to floppy etc.

Since an LED can change color we need to know what the indicate As 1 may be for 2 floppies or who knows what. Someone must remember what they are for. A look at the component side of the bigger board may help. It's a puzzle to figure out!

Yes, those are LED's from Ebox tower. They are somehow attached also to floppy disk(??). I would like to clean mine and solder is "as it should be". Pictures are most welcome :).

HI

I will take some photos of mine I have to take the front of mine soon any way to fit new Power switch. PS don't get the one from Amigakit for ATX it is a lock switch and needs three presses to turn OFF.

Thank you.

BTW. I already got that "atx" switch AND I'm going to change to something else... I'm not sure why it is called "atx". I'm thinking you simply use bottom to buttons for power and reset.

Hi

I was using bottom button but thought it would be nice to have the top one working. I have ordered another one from ebay this time which is momentary switch. I have now worn out the bottom button due to lots of power offs trying to make my mediator and Atic radeon card work. After a lot of swearing it is now working.

You should see my room with my old HW in last few days. It is funny but I think my A1200 likes to sit on my desk OPEN, when I put it into case all soft of issues, put it on the table (with Mediator etc.) works fine :).

Are you setting up you new system? My Radeon works fine (as of yesterday). Now I'm trying to make my old FastATA work under OS3.9, for some reason it is making my HDD go faster and I have no idea how make it work. Under OS3.1 I'm getting about 8 Mb/s.

There is something strange about this old HW, at the end it is a pile of really, really old stuff... but I actually like to use floppies, CDs etc. to install stuff.

I'm actually quite surprise how fast 030 + Radeon is, as far as general use. I wish Amiga would have something better then just AGA, to run at 800x600 in 256 color in reasonable speeds.

you might want to contact amigakit. they offer repairs and cables of all sorts. Ive already bought a custom made power switch for my elbox tower. give it a try, they might be able to help you out with schematics or other services.

also, the leds indicate:

green: power
orange: floppy
red: hard drive

the led pcb is powered through the a1200 floppy power connector. if you already use that connector to provide extra power to the motherboard (hello blizzardppc users) you will need to become creative and wire up some solution.

I managed to do so (using arduino signal cables) but unfortunately I have no schematics or pictures and dont want to take my machine apart right now.
