Title: Anyone interested in live music at a Commodore event?
Post by: Zordar on September 25, 2017, 07:33:24 AM
Hi,

For quite a few years now I've been following a Danish rock band called PRESS PLAY ON TAPE.  I don't know if people have heard of them before, they started out in the early 2000's, and consider themselves a "Commodore 64 revival band".  They exclusively play Commodore 64/Amiga tunes live in front of an audience, and over the years they've gotten pretty good at it.  They basically play in Europe, but out of curiosity I posted on their Facebook page, and asked if they would consider coming to a Commodore event in the US.  The response I got was,

"We would like very much to play in the us,  All we need is an invitation "

I think that having a live band, such as PPOT - which does live C64/Amiga music, would draw more people to these events, and will keep the party going into the night.  Which leads me to ask, first, which Commodore event would be most suitable?  I know that most/some(?) Commodore events are not really geared towards games, and some are rather modest & small.  So which one would be the most appropriate?  Second, would anyone consider inviting them?

Here's a famous video of the band playing Cannon Fodder, now, they usually play regular instruments to recreate the music, however, for this one they're playing on various game controllers no less, with a special guest , Jon Hare from Sensible Software.

What does everyone think?

Love it!

I had a bookmark linking to "Commando" but cannot seem to locate it now. I found a live performance though:

I recall they've been mentioned here in the past. Here's an oldie....

By "invite" do they mean a sponsor to help fund a trip?

Still a lurking Amiga in Madison?  Too bad I didn't know when I visited there about this time last year.

It would be great to have them at CommVEx. The last time we had live music was when Dave Haynie did some guitar-strumming at our 2009 show.
