Good luck. I think you'd be better off posting in the 'Wanted Hardware' section of Amibay rather than here, but it's up to you.

Just out of interest, why are you not considering a Vampire V4?

Because my bridgeboard does not work under the Vampire.

There have been a couple the last few days on AmiBay. I think they're still available.

I have a Blizzard 2060 I could potentially sell.  What would you offer for it?

There was a GVP 060 a couple of days ago. They don't come up too often and go fairly quickly so you have to keep on top of it. Mostly 030s like Derringers and 2630s but every few weeks an 060 comes up. The prices haven't been too crazy.

Depends upon what your definition of crazy is.  A grand for a 25+ year old obsolete computer part is almost the definition of crazy.

I don't see it. I would say it is crazy to get generic e.g. Lenovo laptop for about $2500 that will depreciate in about 5 years to something you get get on ebay for about $100+free shipping. THAT is crazy. A $1000 on 060? You can get bottle of wine for it.

It is not obsolete, since it is WANTED, desired and cherished.

EDIT. I have this laptop, got it from ebay :). My wife has $3500 MSPR Levovo laptop, also got it from ebay :) after it depreciated "a little". It other words: two laptops for $5000 MSRP that today nobody cares about.

I think you're posting in the wrong forum eh:roflmao:We're all certifiably crazy and yet I've never lost money on any 'obsolete computer/part' I've ever sold..only regretted selling it afterwards though:rant:

Sounds like someone needs to look up the definition of obsolete.   It has nothing to do with whether something is wanted, desired, or cherished.  It may have VALUE to those who would pay such a price, like the hipster "retro-gamer" crowd that suddenly decided that owning old hardware is cool, or an aging hoarder that keeps all his boxed computers on shelving units piled up the ceiling while the caps and batteries rot the mainboards, or someone like me who owned these machines as a young adult some 27 years ago and feels nostalgia for them, but, it is STILL OBSOLETE.  Are any major developers producing applications or games for Classic Amiga?  Are any major hardware companies making add-on cards for it?  No on both accounts.  Sure, there is iComp, but, that stuff is STILL not produced in large quantity, nor is there a full line, say, of processor cards, because the processors, are, guess what...obsolete.  Why?  Because the computer is OBSOLETE.  You cannot even get on a modern website on a stock Amiga, or even an 060 (I have a 2060, so I know) without major lag, or, encountering non-functional parts of a website because the Amiga and its software doesn't recognize it...because the Amiga is...OBSOLETE.  Can you play an MP3 or stream video on a classic Amiga (we're not talking about one that has been hijacked by a Vampire, and, really isn't a classic Amiga anymore)?  No again, because it's obsolete.

$3500 laptops?   I've never spent more than $600 on one, brand new, with an i7 and the latest and greatest.  Who buys that kind of stuff?  Another insane person.

Yes, because other insane people pay the insane price being asked for the hardware.  Self perpetuating, vicious cycle.   We're talking about items being sold for the cost of a monthly mortgage payment for some.  Who does that?  I've lots of "disposable" income, and, I've always loved the C64 (had one since 1982) and Amiga (1989), and have a great sense of nostalgia for them, which prompted me to acquire a few of them over the last 5 years or so on the CHEAP, and only because I could get them cheap.  But, I am not so insane to pay a grand for an accelerator that is a quarter of a century old.

Nor I. I have gotten into this a little more than I thought. Still you have to keep your head on this. Paying and fixing up old computers can be fun but paying those kind of prices?

You might see my thread about fixing the A2000. I just got that with accelerator, Video toaster along with two amiga crts and an A4000 system with toaster. That is not the half of what I got. This guy said if I didn't take it, off to the recycling center.
Not a bit of nostalgia for him. Far saner than us.

Umm, not to be too much of a smart alec, but so says the man who just paid $500 for an 040? What are those old sayings about glass houses and black pots?

You need to ask yourself: What is a price?

Then there is a other question: What are money?

And later: Average American spends on AVERAGE $1100/year on coffee. How much is cable TV? Cigarets? Beer? Parking lot? Biking vs. driving to work? I can EASLY justify spending $2000 of obsolete hardware that is cherished and desired :). In 1993 my Color Classic was about $2000. Someone got it, used it and disposed it. So, I can have it :).

I think we are way off topic ;)

This is called hobby, and if someone wants to spend money on their hobby than whole argument is mute. We earn money, so we spend money.

Well that's good because I like b*tching. Oh wait, that's what my wife does about my obsession - umm I mean "hobby". Yeah, yeah, that's what it is, a hobby, a hobby. Right dear? Dear? Dear? Oh dear :)

Recently bought several eur 2000 - 3000 stamps - it's just a hobby but a little more expensive than Amiga. My Blizz 2060 and CSPPC  did barely cost over eur 1000...Slot Car racing? Probably my motors do cost eur 10000 but give a good excuse to travel abroad...

Btw the euro sign gives a nice output: %&$#?@!%&$#?@!%&$#?@!8364;

I ALWAYS ask my wife when I buy my "hobby" parts... she is not emotionally involved, but sometimes I have to wait to get my toys :(. I can't even imagine how much money I actually SAVED on computers BECAUSE of my Amiga. I actually build 8 computers for my work (just for fun), build my own "super computer" to do genome assembly (that was 6 years ago)... so my hobby actually pays back. For sure. I'm not even going to mention that I build computers to all my family, friends, neighbors and neighbor cat. All of this because my "sandwich" Amiga on my table (I don't even know how Amiga looks like CLOSED - I see this only on pictures!)
