Hi,
I already had a 4gb CF Kingston installed with Workbench Classic Lite which I used on my A500+ with the new ACA500+ (incl ACA1221).
Somehow I made a mess of all the programms and wanted to reinstall my CF on my PC again with WinUAE.
In a DOS window I cleaned my CF with the DOS programm DISKPART.
After adding the CF as a hard drive in WinUAE (Add Hard Drive) it shows up in the list. I noticed the letter E which seems to be an error if I am correct.
After starting HDToolbox and clicking on Change Drive Type I get to select the drive which I want to define as new. There are two drives listed:
IBM-DTCA-24090 (not sure why this shows up in the list???)
Generic-Compact Flash 1.01
I then select the Generic-Compact Flash and click on Define New...Then I click on Read Configuration and in the next window on Continue.
I then get the following error:
Unit is not a disk (type32)!
I also tried older versions of WinUAE and started WinUAE as an admin.
When adding the CF as a hard drive in WinUAE, do I have to add it as a UAE drive, IDE or SCSI drive?
Do I have to quick format the CF (FAT?)

why dont you just partition and format it on the actual amiga instead of the hassle of uae?

The ACA500+ should include all the tools you need to be able to do this. (https://icomp.de/shop-icomp/en/produkt-details/product/ACA500plus.html)

Well, that too. But you and I both know that people tend to lose those over the years, floppy disks go bad, people don't want to pay for new ones, blah blah. The ACA 500+ (which OP mentions owning) includes the capability to install & partition a 3.1 system directly, without any disks. Or so it says in it's product description, lol.

One can buy the latest and greatest 3.1 disks (and Kickstart) from Claonto, right? I know I bought a couple of copies for good measure.

All for the princely sum of $16 USD. (http://amigakit.leamancomputing.com/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=1214)
Edit - here's the disks (http://amigakit.leamancomputing.com/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=1211), looks like they're on pre-order currently. Usually they have them.

Try here: works on anything, in stock @ $14 something, shipping may be another story.

I bought them direct as images. I bought them from Hyperion, not Cloanto, for $10.80.

For a few bucks more you could have bought the latest amiga forever with the adfs of the disks!

I own several copies of Amiga Forever and never use them (including the Amiga 30 edition.) My goal in this instance, however, was to make certain all of my Amigas are legit. I don't know if the AF stuff would help with that.
