Could someone please explain how this works?

He says a switcher is needed, but with a 42 pin ROM I'm not seeing it work in an A500 with a 40 pin socket.

With a ROM switcher that connects two of the ROM's address lines to the bank switching circuit to select between one of the three ROM images and connects the other 40 pins to the ROM socket I assume.

So, would the switcher be one like a regular Kickstart switch or something different?

My guess is a 2MB chip and you switch between the 3 512KB ROM's... would have been nice if they also added a 1.2 ROM.
I take it's like with the dual ROM but with more leads to the switch. (http://eab.abime.net/showthread.php?t=46636)

There do exist a few 42pin (http://www.bigbookofamigahardware.com/bboah/product.aspx?id=678) kickstart switches (http://www.bigbookofamigahardware.com/bboah/product.aspx?id=679) but this is definitely not what this needs to operate.
Without a "kickstart switcher device" I wonder if it requires a A500 Rev8 motherboard or if pin 1 and 42 are to be outside the socket and Rev8 users need to bend out the pins.
