Hi All, Sorry but if you looked up dense in the dictionary you would see my picture.
This is a power supply for both the A500 and A1200?

Yes, they both use the same connector.

Yes, they both use the same connector.
And I believe the A600 as well....
-
Good stuff here if you cant build one yourself. I cant do them for much less. Very clean design too.
-
These along with the APowers I have will be the last power supplies I'll ever need. Fantastic.

@tonyp12
I'm interested. How much for shipping to Mexico?
Thanks!
Edit: Reading again I see my answer: $12.95 without a cord.
Sorry, I posted in a hurry

Works with 230V too?

The ones I convert are auto switching so I cant imagine his are not. In his post he mentions for worldwide shipping you supply the cord. This leads me to believe it will do 220 fine.

Input: 100-to-240 V, 47-to-63 Hz, 1.35A.
UL, CE, TUV

Not sure what gauge, but 3 wires will be used for +5V and 3 wires for gnd
+12 and -12 get one wire each, the cable is rated for the outputs.

Pretty sure Mexico and Canada uses same plug as U.S (all in North America after all)
so I will include the 3 prong cord.

Yes they are the exact same :)
Thanks! I'll be sending paypal payment later today

Not sure what gauge...
From Ray Carlsen,
"...the wires in that [original A500 PS] cable are pretty thin, same as in a C128 PS cable... copper is expensive. Commodore got around that by installing a "sense" line, the fifth wire in the cable. It provides feedback to the PS board so that when the load on the +5VDC is increased (computer on) the PS feeds out a little more voltage to compensate.
The new [modern] power module has no such sense line, so I use heavier gauge wire to minimize the voltage drop in the cable."
(snip)
"I wonder how those modified Amiga power supplies would hold up when the load is very
heavy... when the user has added enhancements such as extra RAM, hard drive and CPU accelerator."
(snip)
"I use #16 wire in a 5' cable to feed a C128 and go to #14 for longer runs or to feed an Amiga which I know to be a power hog."

I'm interested into 2 pieces, thanks. The paypal payment is done. I live in Switzerland.
Thank you !
-
I should be able to start shipping some units tomorrow, half of the 15units have been sold now.
-
Thank you !
-
I notice there is no on/off switch, so you have to unplug cord as off.
There is a green led to show power.

These are handy for such instances.

Great work.

2 units left.
if you need a power switch, putting a inline on the iec cord is an option, you should let ground/earth wire pass through uncut if possible

In U.K. I think all outlets have a switch already.
-
I'll take one. Money sent for shipping in the US

I'll take one. PM sent.

OK, last two sold to the above two people.
I guess I need to engineer the 5pin Square connector from scratch, as that is stopping me for doing anymore units.

Ask Mech where he got his production run made when he was building power supplies a few years back. I am pretty sure he didn't buy them off the shelf, and had to have them fabricated.

I looked into doing it and it's not cost effective to do them and still be able to sell a new PSU at a reasonable price to make up for the manufacture cost. The better idea is to find an existing part to solder into a custom board that can be solder in place of current o e, but you need someone like me that can install it on top of that in order to use it.

Received mine. Very nice piece of work, thank you. One huge benefit over the APower ones I have (which I also like, very much, don't get me wrong) is a longer Amiga-side power cord.
-
got mine. Doesnt power on.
Did you test it before sending it ?
-
I load test them and measure the voltages on all pins just before I mail them out.
Can you test with another eic cord/outlet?
Could gone bad after I test it, if so mail it back.
-
It was the power cable! Thanks for sending me another:)
-
In two weeks I will start selling Amiga1200 power right angle ADAPTER with same PowerSupply.
As the A500 don't have its power connector on the far end, this adapter will not fit.
This A1200 adapter will have a 4pin molex output and use machined pins to "emulate" the square din connector.
Maybe make a A500 version later.
-
Mine arrived (AUSTRALIA), haven't had a chance to check it out properly...
hopefully on the weekend...
Cheers
-
Received mine last friday. Tested and working fine :)
Thanks!
