Title: RDesktop AmigaOS4 and Windows10 professional
Post by: ddniUK on May 27, 2017, 08:26:01 PM
Hi, has anyone managed to get this working?

Having followed the guide and online tutorials I keep getting a pop up saying Error: Recv:

I have tried the RDesktop supplied with Amigos4 4.1.5 and the latest demo on HD-Zone.com.

Any thoughts?

I had to do this with MorphOS RDesktop and Windows 10 Pro, so maybe it could help in your situation too?

Please keep us informed about the outcome.
Currently I'm in the process of setting up an AOS 4.1FE U1 environment on my A4k PPC and possibly will have to network it with an Win10 machine.

A while back I had networked the A4k PPC with my WinXP box using a registered copy of Darren Eveland's 'RDesktop' and 'smbfs' - it worked like a charm.

But meanwhile the support for WinXP ended and I will have to buy a new, up-to-date WIntel box with Win10 and would like to network this one with my Miggy as well (both - OS 3.9/WarpOS and OS 4.x setup).

Therefor I'm eager to hear about your experiences of using RDesktop (which version?) with AOS 4.x and Win10...

Brilliant!
pVC suggestion works perfectly :)
I had to set the last option to RDP, (Negotiate did not work). Many thanks!

Copy and pasted the info from pVC link for convenience

Open a Run dialog using Win-R.  Type "gpedit.msc" and hit Enter.
On the left tree view, click on Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > Windows Components > Remote Desktop Services > Remote Desktop Session Host > Security
Double-click on the "Require use of specific security layer for remote (RDP) connections" setting on the right.
Select the "Enabled" radio button
Select "Negotiate" (or "RDP") from the "Security Layer" drop-down and click OK.

When you're buying a new Wintel machine, remember that Windows 10 Home doesn't come with the remote desktop server. Windows 10 Pro is better in that regard.

No problem, good to hear it was a helpful advice :)

Of course.
If I buy a new WIntel box I want to be compatible with the Win version and software we use at work...
