Title: External Gotek
Post by: toples50 on May 25, 2017, 05:17:28 PM
I've got an external Gotek(as DF1:) but can't run most games/demos.If I exchange the internal floppy with an internal Gotek I will be able to play most games and demos?

sounds like a cable/ID issue. Someone will chime in.

Which Amiga do you have? If you have a Amiga 500 then you can build a df0 Switcher like this: http://amigastore.eu/en/485-df0-selector.html or this one https://icomp.de/shop-icomp/en/shop/product/ACA500plus.html. The last one is expensive, but you have more options like installing games on a Compactflash.

The answer is Yes.
Most games are hard-wired to access DF0.

Like many poeple here I have multiple Gotek drives and yes it is most useful as a df0: drive for games.   However,  I keep one in an external case not for games but as an install aid, ie 3.9 emergency disks, 3.1 install disks, 1.3 install disks, AsimCDFS, directory opus install disk, a disk with AIBB and Sysinfo, Fusion, etc.  It is really handy to have around for a fresh AmigaOS install.
