Did the release of Amiga 3.9 come in a Box? I know that 3.5 did. Thanks.
-
No, 3.9 just came in a jewel case with tiny manual.
-
I think I remember a skinny box. Had to fit the Emergency disk in there.

This is incorrect unless it was some dealer specific thing. 3.9 shipped in cd rom jewel case with an insert NO floppy. You had to make your own.
-
Plastic jewel case + a folded instruction sheet. ERD's contain a few system-specific files, if you wanted one you had to make your own (using a utility included on the CD).
FWIW 4.1 "classic" comes in a larger plastic case with a separate floppy.
-
I received the cd disc in a slim jewel case and a red emergency floppy... No instruction sheet with mine.

That is not the standard packaging. Like i said must be some dealer thing with you as almost all in the world were packaged the same way afaik.

Mine was from amigakit. There was no box, but it was heat sealed in a transparent plastic bag slightly larger than the jewel case. There was no jewel case insert and the cd was printed with one of those CDR inkjet printers or whatever they're called. This was probably 10 years ago though. Also the red emergency floppy had a black and white printed label on it.

I got mine from Vesalia last year, packaged in a jewel case. No floppy.
-
Just came in a jeweled plastic case. Mine was sent to me in bubbled wrap Vanilla envelope through the snail mail.

Amiga OS 3.5 shipped in a box with a boot floppy.
OS 3.9 originally shipped as a jewel case. The assumption was, you were already running OS 3.5 thus having a CD drive configured on your Amiga, or you had OS 3.1 with a CD drive. It is very easy to create a boot floppy for OS 3.9 from the CD.
I keep my OS 3.9 CD inside the OS 3.5 box. Plenty of room in there.
-
Got my copy when it came out from Software Hut, long time ago.

Same place mine came from new and it was just the CD in the standard jewel case as well.

Like i said it was an individual dealer thing. 3.5 was boxed 3.9 not.

btw guys funny and true story. When I was with Genesi I read all the agreements we had with Hyperion and Ainc. Bill Buck had like 2000 copies of os 3.9 lol. They had they licsense to distribute 3.9 with Pegasos iirc.

mine came from Vesalia, just in a jewel case with no manual....

You forgot a picture of the huge binder that came with the A3000. Boy do I miss those days! :(

I always felt the Amiga 3000 was Commodore's last attempt at really doing a professional rollout of a computer line. The manual was in a binder that had pages on nice stock, plastic separators, and color(!) photos splashed around.
You also had warranty choices, universities were buying them, AMIX was a professional option, and the case for the 3000, 3000T, and A3070 were some of the best in the line. We even got two different mice!
The Amiga 4000 manuals were pretty cheap and it just felt like money was tight at CBM.
-P
PS - My AOS 3.5 came in a slick box but my AOS3.9 (Software Hut) was just a jewel case IIRC.
-
Maybe Commodore were going green, by trying to help save the planet with their skimpy manuals.
-
I also received mine in a box.

Fantastic quality!!

Bet there is zero chance of a new batch of OS 3.9 CD being made in a DVD case???
-
Bill Buck had like 2000 copies of os 3.9 lol.
Wonder whatever happened to all of 'em?

I have so many books and binders. There is literally a wall of them. Amazing really.
