I read it carefully.. still absurd. When i walk by a bank is it "to my credit" I dont rob it? lol Point is of course they arent going to edit comments this isnt amibench or aw.net. Thats why aorg has lasted this many years.

There's a Cyberstorm 060 on Amibay, but I see someone already declared interest.
A3000/4000 accelerators are usually snatched up within minutes so you'll have to be fast.

You can't do that as that someone would be taking all the risk. I recommend that you create an account and declare interest yourself. There are good deals to be had on there and if you miss this one there will be another given time. How it works is that the first person to 'declare interest' gets to buy the goods, unless they drop out for a semi-valid reason, in which case it would go to the second person who'm had declared interest, or the third if they drop out... and so on.

tempting or not, I would look for an accelerator with memory.

The 3640's bottleneck.

... unless you already have a BIGRAM card :D

Zorro III RAM is fast, but is it comparable to local memory on the accelerator?

Not even close, AFAIR.

I know there've been a few speed tests posted before.  Personally I'd be more curious to see speed tests comparing an A4000 with a A3640 and that 64MB motherboard memory hack and vs. one with an '040 card with local RAM.

Is A4000 motherboard memory faster than memory addressed through one of the Zorro III slots?  (I would assume so)

Ooooo!  I never knew about that hack.  Neat!

I highly doubt it, but I'll defer to the more knowledgeable folks here.  For my own (key word) personal use, it would have been good enough.  A moot point, however, as I've got my eye on another road bike instead.

There were a few kits available on eBay, too, a few months ago (which is how I heard of it).

I can imagine it's fast enough for my purposes, as well.

I like the idea of this 64MB hack.  In Acill's thread he mentions he's done this for a customer, so I would infer he could do it for others.  Had I known about it before I sent him my main 4000D board I would have had him done it alone with the PIO2 upgrade.  I have one more board to send, so that's on my list.

In order of speed from fastest to slowest goes:
1)  Memory located on processor board
2)  A4000 motherboard memory whether that's 64MB or 16MB they're the same speed
3)  Zorro-3 RAM  80-95% the speed of motherboard ram

There are certain cases where Zorro-3 RAM could be faster for specific applications like if you also had a Zorro-3 SCSI card and the Zorro RAM had higher priority, you will get faster HDD speeds, but not if you had even faster processor board RAM.  If you overclock an A3640 your motherboard RAM gets overclocked too but the 64MB motherboard upgrade is most likely not compatible with overclocking but 16MB often overclocks just fine.

For 90 per cent of normal users Zorro Ram speed is going to be the same speed as CPU ram.

Does the A3640 card upgraded to REV 3.2 and have the remove 2 wait states mod?

If the remove 2 wait states mod are not applied, then you Amiga 4000 will feel like it is slower with then a 3630 card.
