Hi all,
I have an A4000/030 which hadn't been used since 1996. I bought keyboard and mouse adapter, 3.1 rom, gotek and 8gb CF with workbench loaded.
Everything worked perfectly but I couldnt find what to for copying my apps from old HDD to new CF. First I directly copied files old HDD to CF. Some apps (mostly games) worked by this method but apps like ppage4.0, brilliance and imagine didn't.
I also backed up the cf and copied the workbench from old hdd to new cf and fixed paths and other thinks I can find in startup-sequence and user-sequence but no go.
I discovered that I can't still run from apps CF even if I boot from old HDD. But I can run them if I moved them to another folder in old HDD.
When I try to run them from shell it says files are not executable.
Please help me!!! Once I called myself an Amiga Expert but after all those years everything is gone :(

Boot from the HD, setup the CF exactly as the HDD is now and use Dopus to copy everything or use the copy all command from shell to do it. You need all the icons and flags to move as well, just doing a drag and drop wont work properly from what I have experienced.

+1 as I can confirm this happening to me more than once

copy DH0:#? to CF0: clone all
Has always been my copy method, using appropriate devices, of course.

Change MaxTransfer of all partitions on the CF to 0x1fe00 before you copy files to them.
HDToolbox -> Partition Drive -> Advanced Options -> Change

Give it some buffers, man... :)
copy dh0: to cf0: all quiet clone buffer=1024
The QUIET option certainly speeds things up too.
Like Thomas said though, the OP's issue sounds a lot like incorrect MaxTransfer setting.

hrmmmm never bothered with buffers, other than the filesystem buffers. I suppose that would help, eh? As for quiet, it's funny, I always tar/gtar quiet, but when I do a copy like this I have a control complex which make me want to see the progress.
MaxTransfer is a funny animal, too. When I installed an SSD on my CS MKIII with SCSI-to-SATA, HDToolBox set the MaxTransfer to 0x0001FE00. I suspect I can safely change it but I haven't bothered while everything works.

Hi all,
Thank you for your answers and sorry for my late response. Got sick and recently starting to feel well. I will try your suggestions and will report back the result.

Ok one problem I deleted the %&$#?@!%&$#?@!%&$#?@!287;artions repartion the cf and then changed the maxtransfersize but it when I again the the that menu I see that it still have the old value 0xffffff

Did you hit enter after entering the new value? Some of those fields can be kind of picky. ;)

Also, reboot after changes for them to take affect.
