Post by: BrA2000 on April 14, 2017, 04:00:23 PM
Located in Baton Rouge, Louisiana for pickup

Amiga 2000 , last booted 4 or 5 years ago

Hear are the specs as best I can remember :

3.0 ROMs
68040@40mHz / 28mb RAM
GVP Spectrum II Graphics Card
Flicker fixer / scan doubler
DKB Rapid Fire SCSI Card

Keyboard is missing some keys.

Commode 1940 monitor

I am moving across the country and have to find a new home for it.

Are you aware of how much you could get for such a system?
Its a generous offer, and one I'd be interested in if it wasn't for the fact I'm in Australia, but bare in mind you'd easily get $500+ for it.
Given the number of people who just hoard, and don't really even use retro machines, along with the number of opportunists who will resell whatever they can get their hands on at a much inflated price I'd be more inclined to put it on eBay or similar (amibay perhaps?).
Might be worth looking into those who offer to take it off your hands just to make sure they're not the sort of person who will look to simply take advantage and try to profit.

That being said, its your gear and you can of course do with it as you please :)

I'd just hate to see someone who simply wants to profiteer from your generous offer.

WOW, I SO wish I lived in Louisiana.
You do know this would sell whole or in parts for quite a bit of cash, right?

Yes, I am aware.

However, some folks were generous to me over the years and gave me some hardware for free or at little cost so I am passing that on.

Second, I really need to get it out of the way and I am not sure if it even boots, it is still piled in a closet right now.

Very awesome of you to do this. Magnetic has been trying very hard to get a good working 2000 for awhile now and has been cursed to death with bad units. He is a very deserving guy for this machine and would take amazing care of it. Not only that he would use the thing daily for actual video work.

Cool, I'm familiar with Mag too.
If you're intent of giving back to the community....

Well, he'd be a good person to let have it.
Great.

That's EXCELLENT - as long as it goes to a collector and not some eBay scalper.

QbrA2000,
My hat's off to you. This used to happen a bit more around here - I am glad to see it. I still have an '040 fired A2000 with the GVP graphics card that was given to me several years ago. This sure can't hurt your karma.
