Probably not my place to post this as I've never really dealt with the man, but I've just learned through the Coco mailing list that Glen VanDenBiggelaar (of The Amiga Lounge and The Coco Lounge) has passed away.
RIP Glen, my condolences to family and friends.

That is very sad news and indeed a shock to hear. He was a long standing customer, very friendly and a delight to serve over the last decade.
Our ranks are getting slowly smaller.
RIP Glen.
-
I'm sorry to hear that. I bought several items from Glen over the years. RIP
-
Ohh man. That is sad to hear. Especially given the fact that the Lounge was not doing well prior to this. A case of natural causes and nothing more I hope.
RIP Glen
-
I am sorry to hear this. I went to his web site often to what cool stuff he had for sale. I have bought from him in the past and he was good to buy from. R. I. P.

R.I.P Glen & The Amiga Lounge:(
Bought quite a few things over the years from him & always a good experience & enjoyed visiting the amigalounge.com to see what he found and was working on
-
I don't know the man, but any Amigan passing by deserves my condolences... May he rest In peace! :(
-
Condolences to his family and friends. R.I.P. Glen.
:(
I used to enjoy reading his blogs, and I was about to thank him for that when it occured to me it is too late now. So, right now I'd like to thank the creators/maintainers of all Amiga related websites, shops, blogs, software and hardware and also end-users and forum members - you are all equally important and all make our Amiga community the thriving healthy and fascinating wonderful hobby that it is.

I recently chatted with Glen. I had a deposit for an Amiga 4000 before the lounge went under, which I eventually just considered a donation as he seemed to be having a tough time of it financially. I emailed him to see if he had any Amigas either in stock or coming soon. He said all he had was various Coco stuff. Usually we'd have pretty good chats but this time he didn't seem like himself. I just wrote it off as catching him on a bad day.
My condolences to his family and friends. Always sad to lose another enthusiastic member of the Amiga community.
-
I enjoyed his blogs, too. Was just scrolling through some of the pictures on his Facebook (now a memorial page), he really looks to have gone downhill pretty fast, the past few years. It could happen to any of us... He sure looked to have had an interesting life, though! RIP. :(
-
Oh no! So sad to hear this. He and I had several dealings throughout the years, but didn't really keep in touch the last couple I guess. My condolences to his family and friends and may you Rest In Peace Glen!

RIP Glen. :( The Amiga Lounge projects were always great :), the Amiga Lounge Babes were great :laugh1: & the Amiga Lounge countdown clock was well, quite thought provoking. http://amigalounge.com/

This sad list is getting bigger.

One of the times I laughed hardest on this site was this:

Mainly for Novacoder's response.

I didn't realize he ran a site for Cocos.
Pity, I have an Altera DE-1 set up to emulate that.
After all, my preference (because of when I started in computing) has always been for Motorola cpus.
-
That's unfortunate. I bought my 1000 from him.
:(

Very sad news, R.I.P.
A few years back Glen found me two Beetle mice for Amiga. I had been searching for this mouse for many years and he had two which I bought right away. Nice guy and I enjoyed visiting his site and reading some of his blogs over the years. He will be missed.

As a favour for one of Glen's friends:
Hi Thanks for posting about Glen he was a member of the Amicue computer club here in Edmonton Alberta Canada, I'm the president of the club, he will be missed at our Saturday brunches at Haps, and he grew to be our best amiga geek for sure. He seemed to soak all the information from the club and anywhere he could find it. He was such a positive fellow and always brought something interesting to the Amicue club meetings. This was so sudden, his friend Cory came by to lunch today. Can you post this in this thread as i can't at this time. Craig president of Amicue and Amitrix Developement INC.

Didn't know the man, but R.I.P and condolences to his family and friends.
Both an Amiga and Coco enthusiast. A rare beast indeed. I'm the only other person I know that still uses and enjoys both.

I bought a couple items from Glen in the past and he seemed like a good guy. I also read his site on occasion and found most of his blogs interesting. It's sad to hear of his death.
This might be a bit cold, but in my opinion very worth mentioning. I don't know what he had going on in his life, and I didn't know him personally, but from what I could see from a distance he lived a very unhealthy life (smoking, overweight, etc.).
Perhaps his untimely death might help remind some of those around him just how mortal we are. 46 years old is way too young to die.

The link to Glen's obit was just posted in the TRS-80/Coco Facebook group:

That's the part that really hits home... only two years older than me.
-
It sure has helped me get moving on the projects that I have been putting off. I'm getting all of the classic Amigas out for some cleaning and fixing up.
-
I literally just spoke to him on the phone about 4 weeks ago. I've met him in person many times as he live here in the same city as me. His health was not good partially due to his diet as he really struggled financially just to pay rent the last year.
Glen had a big heart and often helped others befor helping himself. He was very knolagable in Amiga and other retro computing platforms. He will be missed
-
Just wanted to add my condolences. Glen sold me an A4000T a couple of years back - I managed to have faith and put down the first deposit, amd I think I was rewarded woth the only NOS 4000T he got from that consignment, I also donated to his site. He was a humorous guy in the communications which we had over email.
RIP Glen

Does anyone have a link to his facebook memorial page?

This is the only one I know of...

This is very sad to hear. I bought a number of things from Glen - he had a knack for finding all those "wouldn't it be neat if I had x" kinds of items for little projects I was working on. My condolences to friends and family.

I'm 43!
I bought some Amiga stuff from him in the past. He was a really nice guy with a big heart. I just wish I knew about his passing earlier, I've been trying to contact him for the past 2 weeks! :-(
