Amiga 3000 question for anyone who might know. I have a 3000 motherboard that used to have a ROM tower for the kickstarts, but the tower is long gone. The ROM tower sat in U182/183, but interestingly enough, I have standard sockets in U180/181. So putting standard kickstarts in U180/181 don't do anything, and I've seen in various places that there were 'special' ROMs for here. Does anyone have a definitive answer on how to proceed? Do I need a new ROM tower or is it possible to burn whatever special ROM it needs?

are you using the correct rom (with odd & even pair) ? Might need to swap them around ?

Brain is rusty on this.. but if I remember right.. U182/U183 could be replaced directly on the board using 27C4096 / 27c2048/ 27C220 type eproms.. I've done this before eons ago.. also some A3000's have the ROM0 ROM1 labels reversed.. so keep an eye on that as well..
Units that had the rom tower would adapt the "usual" Amiga ROM / 27C200 pin-out to U182/183.. Tower was there since U180/181 on the motherboard was not routed properly on the PCB..
