Post by: swift240 on February 14, 2017, 10:36:10 PM
Hi all,

I use an CF Card for my Workbench its a 4Gb card, what is the maximum Gb I can use on my Amiga 1200 ?

Some have told me the maximum I can use is only 4Gb BUT is that real true?
BTW the CF card is Sandisc.

4gb is the limit (32bit limitation) but there are ways via software to get around this as per the following links -

Upgrade to 3.9 or utilize various hacks and patches to "break the 4GB limit".  You'll still want to keep your Workbench SYS: partition small, so you can boot off it and for compatibility with older software.

If you use the PFS-aio file system you can use up to 8GB when using the old Commodore scsi.device in ROM. If you were to upgrade scsi.device by loading a newer version in via LoadModule, you can then use up to 2TB depending on the filesystem used.

Have a look at this: http://eab.abime.net/showthread.php?t=61666 (http://eab.abime.net/showthread.php?t=61666)

i notice you've got an 82Gig drive in your machine as per your sig. So it's the same deal as that really.
just keep your SYS drive inside that first 4gig and any emulator partitions in that first 4gig too just to be safe.
