Ive recently installed Directory Opus 4 onto my flash drive via winUAE and it work with no problems
I then transfer the flash drive back into my amiga A1200 but when i double click on the icon, the following message appears.
Software Failure
DirectoryOpus
Program Failed (error #8000000B)
Wait for disk activity to finish
Is there something missing from my amiga 1200 that i need to get this running?
Thanks

Check this thread http://eab.abime.net/showthread.php?t=57982
SetPatch 43.6b might be the answer.

Thanks I will give that a try,
Also is there alternative programs I could use that would more or less do the same thing?

I have never tried it on winUAE
DiskMaster, takes more set up on classic but is very good also

Okay I installed the setpatch and the same message appears when trying to open Dopus. I've even removed DOpus and installed it again, but the same message appears when i try to open it.

When you say (quote) "I then transfer the flash drive back into my Amiga" - what USB interface are you using? Does it work correctly when transferring other files? Have you tried copying the DOpus executable off the flash drive (for example, into RAM: ) and running it from there?
Another alternative that I've always used is DirWork. Older versions (up to 1.62) are just one single executable file and fit easily onto a floppy. Newer versions (up to 2.1) are a bit more complex to install, but have more "bells & whistles". ;)
Also you could try running something like SnoopDOS to see if DOpus is looking for any libraries or dependencies, or anything, which is causing it to crash.

I'm not using a USB interface, the laptop I'm running WinUAE on has a PCMCIA interface built into it :)
Yes all other files I have transferred over work fine on my A1200. DOpus works on WinUAE when installed on the flash card, but not on the amiga. I will try and run it from the RAM: and see how I get on.
Thanks

A CF card isn't the same thing as a flash drive. Specificity helps, when asking questions. Sorry, Grammar Nazi will go back into his corner now!
Check your protection bits on the file. Anything getting changed during the transfer process?

whats the exact version of Dopus you are running ? unless its straight on v4.00
Theres also the following versions available v4.03, 4.12a, 5.11, 5.5 and 5.61
maybe try a newer version ?
-
I'm running version 4.16.
I've done all of the above but it still doesnt work. Extracted the lha file in Ram: ran the installation, installed it to my HDD partition
The message still appears.

can you try downloading another copy of it please from a different source. You can grab a copy at EAB ftp server ?
maybe leave it as a archive when copying it over and decompress it on the actual Amiga.
Looking at other forum threads seems like error 8000000B might be related to FPU or libraries. on Winuae do you have FPU specified and your actual Amiga doesn't have one ?

Okay I've managed to resolve the issue.
I extracted the setpatch43.6b to Ram: then manually copied the setpatch file over into the C: folder and replaced the existing one. Rebooted the machine
Hey presto it now works!!! :-)

Yeah I kept on bumping into the SetPatch fix online, I thought it was strange that it didnt work at first..
Happy you got it going!! :)
