Title: Amiga Game Collectors *rise up*
Post by: apa on January 26, 2017, 10:57:53 PM
I know there's a few more Amiga Original Game Collectors out there, so I created a little brag corner on FB, please join if your idea of fun sometimes is sorting the old boxes of dusty non working floppydisks.:) https://www.facebook.com/groups/1735829036732194/

I did a quick check - non English language Amiga Facebook groups outnumber English ones by 9-1 or more. Mostly Spanish, some Portuguese, Italian and French.

Looks like most German Amiga fans don't do FB either.

Have around 800 boxed games and 100 loose... but could care less about Farcebook. Maintained an account primarily for H.S. reunion reasons, but ditched it a few years ago and haven't looked back. Never had an interst in MyWasteOfSpace, Tw@tters, Gargle+, LinkedUp, etc. either. Or a YouTube account!

I totally understand folks not having FB, it's a %&$#?@!%&$#?@!%&$#?@!%&$#?@!ty platform, but atm I prefer FB than to have one endless collectors thread. Now if there was subforum with a Amiga Game Collectors topic in this forum it would be another thing.

Same here. Waste of time that can be brought to a much better use.

We've got a Gallery forum where you can post pics of your goodies, etc.

http://www.amiga.org/gallery/

But yeah... have the Marketplace for trading (trades and sales are EXTREMELY SLOW/NON EXISTENT to say the least around here though) and the Gaming forum if you wanted to talk about games, start a thread and all that good stuff:

http://www.amiga.org/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=12

Maybe start a thread in the Gaming section letting us know your intentions (do you buy/sell/trade?), then keep a link to it in your signature for easy recall. Bet you'd drum up a little more attention from those of us here that won't be bothered with Facebook.    :)

BTW: where are you located? Helps tremendously when your Profile is filled out. And "apa"... are you into American Pale Ale's by chance? I'm an IPA guy myself.

IF you're up for trades and are U.S. based, I've got a list here:

Planning to list all my origanals for sale soon once I can come up with prices. Have all the shadow of the beasts,  monkey island and more good stuff as examples.

A lot of my boxes got damaged after my roof sprang a leak, only thing that wasn't in the box at the time was the copy of Chaos Engine AGA I got for free...

The company I was working for was doing the PC port (22+years ago when I had just left college...) and they got the AGA version to check everything worked the same... I was the only employee with an A1200 so they borrowed my machine and I got the game for free at the end :)

A lot of the games that were damaged came from ITV's Bad Influence ( https://youtu.be/hkgcg4pRsaA ) as I bought a couple of machines and load of games cheap from them.  Only proof is ITV asset stickers.
