Just wanted to get the official answer from AmigaKit/Aeon is all as I believe only Warp3D Nova does and not the original Warp3D.
I had asked my dealer and he was led to believe it did but I think with some confusion on Warp3D, it is not the case as I don't see Warp3D anyplace on my Enhancer + CD... again only Nova is found.
Appears to me that when one buys a new X5000 and also gets the Enhancer Plus software, they do get Warp3D Nova but not the original Warp3D.
This means anyone needing Warp3D today with an X5000 will need to buy at $31USD the Warp3D Drivers to do so. Meaning apps written to take advantage of Warp3D will not get that benefit unless they buy Warp3D.
Just wanted confirm from AmigaKit/Aeon on this. I emailed A-Eon but did not hear back so figured I would post here and see.
Thanks

The new Warp3D Nova and OpenGL ES 2.0 are supplied in the Enhancer Software Plus and Standard Editions.
The old Warp3D-SI is *not* in the Enhancer Software, it can be purchased on AMIStore. This older development is still in the "red" and has not broken even yet in terms of sales so we cannot bundle it unfortunately.
Full details on what is included in the Enhancer Software is detailed on the official Wiki pages:

Perfect, that is what I needed to know.

OK... so... what is the difference?
I have the Enhancer edition (also having bought the X5000), and I recently upgraded to the 1.2 version.... but I did buy a game recently (Gorky 17) and it won't even launch.... could this be the problem? Different driver versions?
Thanks!

Warp3D and Warp3D Nova are completely different API's and the Warp3D driver for Radeon SI (R7, R9 etc) isn't part of the Enhancer package. Gorky 17 uses Warp3D for hardware rendering. If you go into config program for Gorky 17 tick software renderer and the game should now launch.

@slygon
Info just received today. That problem just became known and work is getting done to solve that problem :(
That is a pain, but it is getting worked on :)
-
Thanks for the info!
I expect to run into some problems with this machine... I know that it is brand new, and that there is VERY limited support for the OS and the software....
Is it worth buying the Warp3D package, or just wait for a different fix for the game? No hurry.. and I don't mind supporting developers who are trying to make all of this stuff work!

So...let me see if I get this right...
If you buy an X5000, you get the Enhancer package which contains Warp 3D Nova drivers, and the OS4.1 CD should have Warp 3D drivers for older cards like the Radeon 9200, but if you want Warp 3D drivers for later cards (like those that COME with X5000 systems) you need to buy a separate driver package (on top of the $1800 or so you lay out for the X5000)?
Doesn't put me off as I'm not buying an X5000 just to run OS4, but frankly for many of you that straight out stinks.
So, basically, what we are saying here is that out of the box, the X5000 is not Warp 3D compatible (without a severe video card downgrade OR an additional software purchase).
Just another bit of 'genuine' Amiga weirdness.

It's not weird! It's the life of third party products.
When you buy a radeon card for your pc build, you get drivers from that maker.
They don't support Amiga...
We're very lucky, because a very good Amiga programmer writes a warp 3d driver.
It's great he sells it so cheap.
Support guys like him or one day we will not be able to use third party products.
I know I wanted to use Blender, so I needed that driver. I bought it on Aeon AmiStore.
Blender worked, I like it. It was worth buying the driver.
The Amiga market is not the pc market (haven't we all learned by now?)

I would not! get Warp3d it's out dated and replaced with Warp3d Nova. You can't run both at the same time, so I am told
-
@apsturk
What?
I have installed and am running both! (BTW, I have Enhancer 1.2)
I learned from Hans de Ruiter! (author of warp3d nova) See what he says. and this is what he told me when I couldn't get Blender to run.
"Do you also have the W3D_SI Warp3D driver? MiniGL uses Warp3D, not Warp3D Nova, and there's no compatibility layer."
regards,
Hans

@SACC-guy
That is very cool. Lend me a hand, how do I install both? I am learning new stuff every day.
Thanks for your help :)
I have the newest Radeon HD Driver v1 and v2 is that W3D_SI Warp3D ??
the Boing ball screen saver did work until i installed EPS software and so did Cow3d test software.
-
Wow ok, I guess I am getting old lol
I checked and I installed "Warp3D RadeonHD Southern Islands" from AmiStore and guess what? Boing ball saver and Blender work great. I was misunderstanding Radeon HD and Warp3D. Ok I get it now. I Guess even an old dog and learn (remember) a new thing or two. Thanks SACC-guy :)
If I don't know I ask !

Nice!
I may give this a try too!
Do you think this could fix my game issue?
-Slygon
-
If you have a RadeonHD graphics card and want to running games that are limited to needing the old Warp3D, you will need legacy software driver: Warp3D for RadeonHD Southern Islands on AMIStore (http://www.amistore.net).
We are now encouraging games developers and publishers to move forward to new software technology and use Shaders in their game titles.
The AmigaOne X5000 is a modern platform so A-EON has developed Warp3D Nova (http://wiki.amiga.org/warp3dnova) for use with it, supporting Shaders and more modern technologies such as OpenGL ES 2.0.
The original Warp3D is very old fixed pipleline technology and is not compatible with the modern methods used in 3D today using Shaders.

Short answer, Yes!
More info...
Do have a warp3D compatible card or Warp3D_SI, if not you must set it to software render?

Yes Gorky 17 works here on my X1000 with Raadeon R9 280 with the Warp3D SI driver but did you try selecting the software renderer in the config program like I suggested?
Huno did a fair few ports that use Warp3D too.
http://hunoppc.amiga-projects.net/software?platform=All&technologies%5B%5D=23&sort_by=created
There's a some other software that benefit from like wings Battlefield and I think Wing Remastered will use Warp3D too. I'd try and give a more complete list but just come back from a round trip to the other side of London and I just want to chill out now.
-
Don't forget Blender! (uses minigl and warp3d)

Yes, I tried the software render... still no luck.... I don't get anything... it doesn't appear to even try to launch.... I have a few other games... like a couple from Cherry Darling that don't seem to work either... maybe they will benefit from this.... Where other games, like Giana's Return, and Amiga Racer run perfectly. I do know the Cherry Darling games mention Warp3D... so I will bet that is the problem.... I will give it a try here soon!
As for the graphics card, I have the Radeon R9 270X Toxic Edition.... so it should work.....

I am using a r7 250x. I haven't tested the r9 270x....so

OK,
bought and tested the Warp3D from AmiStore with the Cherry Darling games... They work! I will reinstall and test Gorky 17 next.
On a completely unrelated, but quick question.... (not worth starting a new thread....). How do you remove startup items on boot? I want to stop the clock and calendar widgets from starting... they seem to crash the desktop occasionally... and I really don't need them.....

WBStartup Preference. You can add and delete.

Don't forgot to try the first Warp3D Nova/OpenGL ES 2 game, AmiCraft.

AmiCraft... I will check it out! I am guessing it is a Minecraft client or clone?
I am definitely making progress on many things... the graphics driver has fixed several of my games! I did not know that the two Warp3D packages were so different.
Still no luck on Gorky 17 though... it must be something else... maybe in the AmigaOne X5000 version of the OS... or in the Update 1 (which we have...)... I don't know... it just won't even launch.... I can successfully run the configuration tool now... I can pick software, or hardware mode.... neither setting works...... oh well... I will keep playing..

you are right, Calendar had a bug when opening his menu. it was fixed yesterday.
sorry for the crash...

Thanks for the update! I will check it out! Yes, opening the menu, and sometimes even moving it by hand caused it to freak out and lock up.
I may need to load the update and see how it is now.

it was fixed but not released yet

No worries. I turned it off... but if a fix is released, I would certainly give it a try!

You maybe should have called it something different than Warp3D Nova. Maybe Nova3D or something. It is easy to confuse it with Warp3D, especially for new users, and including the fact there are probably still more Warp3D demos/apps/games than Warp3D Nova...when you download something it says Warp3D you may think it would work with Warp3D Nova but it won't.
BTW I would be interested to purchase Warp3D drivers for my X1000 but I only have a RadeonHD 6850. I'm not buying a new gfx card just for that though.
Just my .02 cents.
