Title: Wanted: Hi-tek keyswitch spring
Post by: James1095 on December 02, 2016, 04:02:27 AM
I'm fixing an A2000 keyboard which is missing the spring from one of the key switches. Everything else is there, the spring is just gone. I've identified these as Hi-Tek 725 switches, the springs look similar to the ones used in clicky pens but smaller diameter.

Nobody has a parts keyboard to sell me a spring from? I figured this would be easy to find.

I did a quick search and found lots of places like this:

Hmm that's an idea, I hadn't really thought of looking for a place that sells generic springs. I figured it would be easier to find one from a parts keyboard than to try to find something compatible and get it in single quantity.

There are a couple auctions on eBay where people are selling bags of keys and springs real cheaply. Most of them are UK sellers right now but for under £5 it would be worth a try and then you'd have a bunch of spare parts for the future.

There you go, replace all those tired springs at once for a few bucks!

I saw some on ebay but the ones I saw looked like different springs that were much larger in diameter. There were several different types of switches used in Amiga keyboards, this one I have here uses Hi-Tek switches which use a tiny spring, maybe 2mm diameter about 3/4" long.
