Title: Maximize your distributed.net client performance
Post by: Cass on March 01, 2004, 01:25:41 PM
Depending on the CPU architecture you have, you may have the maximum performance on each contest (OGR/RC5) with the client for the given CPU.

RC5 client is optimal for the 68K family processors and the x86 ones: This gives an ~2.4 OGR/RC5 ratio.

OGR client is optimal for the PPC family processors: The OGR/RC5 ratio is ~4.1

This means that doesn't matter how fast your CPU is, the right client for it will give more performance for the total time used on a selected project.

These are general guide-lines, do your own benchmarks to see which one suits you best :-)
